Welcome to the 10th episode of the Confined Spaces Radio Show. For tonight I have a super special guest for the last hour of the show. I was chasing this guy for quite some time and finally he’s accepted my invitation to be my guest tonight, Secret Fusion boss SouveQ from Hungary. I really don’t remember how we’ve decided to play what you’re gonna hear in this episode and I cant wait to see your reactions. I think it all started when Lazlo asked me what shall he play and I said, as a joke, soulful, funky, disco, house and he said he will if I will play it as well so here it is.

SouveQ is a well-established DJ and producer who has a lot of projects under his belt. He was influenced by a wide range of musical genres from soul-funk to hip hop to New York’s underground house, which can be persistently heard in his production. From 2019 he’s the label manager of Secret Fusion Recordings. He represents a new generation of Hungarian electronic music producers alongside their compatriots Secret Factory and many more.

Enduro Disco continues his mesmerising run of form on Exploited with another
spellbinding three-track release.
‘Julio’ is unmistakably his handiwork: a classy, spacious slice of modern, dubbed-out
disco. Warm, Balearic bass underpins a haze of chopped-up, resplendent disco
string samples and tripped-out, unintelligible vocals at the core of the track. Flurries
of saccharine, mellifluous synths soar and glide from various pockets of the track,
and deft conga rhythms fill in the gaps. More dramatic synth touches and triangle
16ths keep the track captivating to the very last moment.
‘One Jam’ is similarly dreamy, where plucked 8-bit-esque melody twinkles over
chugging bass and breathy male vocal harmonies. A triumphant feel envelops this
track, with shimmering disco hi-hats bringing the rhythm urgency and subtle strings
filtering away in the bedrock of the composition. Blissed-out, spine-tingling gear.
‘Standing Up’ completes this delightful 3-pack in wonderfully colourful fashion. The
bass is more funk-fuelled, blasts of sprightful trumpet jump out of the mix, and sweet
snatches of piano give passing glances through a filtered haze. Samples are twisted
into unrecognisable snatches of melody, and infectious percussive hits pepper the
groove msot pleasingly. Masterful.

The dance floor as devotional is a trope as old as the club itself. But, with her new single, Jesus Was An Alien, Perel subverts the stakes of our collective communion: Who are our arms raised to? Who are we seeking salvation from?

“Jesus Was An Alien is a discourse about whether Jesus was an actual alien,” she explains, “but also a social debate about what is and implies religion today.” It’s a soundtrack for the listener’s own journey through the intricacies and ironies of modern belief.The track stirs like a late-night revelation, a heady discovery awakened in the dark. Perel lays out a fiercely disciplined electro pulse, with French Canadian musician and songwriter Marie Davidson’s proclamations growing more fervent over the song’s sensual stride. “I already said everything with my synthesizers and the melodies I created,” Perel explains of the collaboration, but “somehow she gave the song a voice I couldn’t.”

Mauricio is part of this generation of new talented Brazilian producers. He brings in its EP some cosmic sounds specific to him and inspired by Disco, Italo or Indie.
“Runner” makes you raise your arms in the air, carried by an amazing rollin’ arpeggio & interspersed with striking percussions. Pads & leads complete the track with a smooth atmosphere.
“Fuel Trompet” is also perfect to dance, a little darker with the throbbing guitars & the flying effects. And when the trumpet comes in, it seems that Laurent Garnier himself was there when the track was produced by Mauricio.
“Salva” complete the release with a smoother indie track. A pleasant stroll along the Brazilian beach, at sunrise.
The Italian master Tulioxi returns to the label to remix “Runner”. He gives the best version of himself with a dark and even more energetic remix where the guitars are just incredible !
Finally, we are happy to have the spanish artist Arkademode as second remixer. He gives to “Salva” a perfect acid way to raise it on the dancefloor ! He will come back soon for the owl with a wonderful EP ;). "

The Avon Guard is a mainly “indie” band from London, whose unique sounds seems
to be taken out of a Tarantino’s movie. A band, which started through friendship-
over 20 years of it- but until now, had not released any albums, only “Forget”. They
are launching this great EP, which contains one of the most awaited remixes in
Jonestown Records. Modernphase, one of the members of Gameboyz, who is an Audio
Engineer, producer, dj and also the co-owner of the label Melómana Records, is
releasing one of his most important jobs as a remixer. This is something he wants to
make clear: that one of his best skills is indeed, to remix progressive bands such as The
Avon Guard.
Modernphase -who has already released different installments for labels such as Play
Pal Music, Nein Record or We Play Acid- releases this time and under Jonestown
Records, a more dance-floor oriented remix: Slow Mo, Disco or New Wave are some of
the sounds which come up into this track, full of wonderful elements which develop
through the whole piece.
