@EtappKyle’s first full Ostgut Ton EP release sees the Ukrainian-born, Berlin-based Berghain resident emphasizing the connection between spaces, while avoiding Techno’s overt intergalactic clichés. By partially linking to his ‘Continuum EP’ (Unterton, 2016), the results are four tracks of pristine, sci-fi minimalism, propelled by Ambient synths and percussive explosions in distant skies – more utopian than dystopian.

Shedding the Past

Intro

With the release of Blawan’s debut album ‘Wet Will Always Dry’ mere days away, we decided to premiere a radioactive roller from the forthcoming full-length project that’s sure to get the party started when it lands on June 18.

Titled ‘Kalosi’, the new cut is a pure percussive workout complete with brain-melting loops and Blawan’s signature gritty sound design. 

Described in a press release as, “maybe the most complete statement from Blawan to date”, the new album sees the UK techno artist explore and showcase the various motifs and elements that have earned him his revered reputation on the scene. 

‘Wet Will Always Dry’ lands June 18 via Blawan’s own imprint Ternesc.

‘Paul’s Horizon’ – @Ryan-Elliott’s first EP in six years – falls musically between Berlin and Detroit, between house and techno and between hypnotic repetition and unpredictability, revealing a subtle ear for groove and composition.

It’s the DJ’s perspective that has informed the Berghain / Panorama Bar resident's own analogue productions, with ‘Paul’s Horizon’ turning its focus toward deep and slick percussion. This is apparent from the get-go, with the title track’s triangle/clap interplay, funky 5-6 kicks per bar, and bleary-eyed atmosphere. From there “Martinsville Morning” slows down into an understated sunrise groover, led by bassline, strings and pads. EP closer “Grafton Road” turns up the pace again with gasps for hats, aggressive punctuating snares, and a modulating synth bubbling-up throughout.

This is part of my rare collection of mixtapes I made a long, long time ago. I can't believe I still have these. I am missing a lot more, especially my early Techno days when the Rave scene was starting here in LA. The equipment I used in those days: 2 Technics 1200mk2, mixers ranged from Gemini - Vestax - Rane MP2016. The music in these tapes is a story of where I am today. My taste in music was anywhere from HOUSE to TECHNO, yes Techno. I'm sure there's a track here and there that I question today. F_ck it! Hahaha! The mixes were raw and natural. Please excuse the sound quality on some of these audio files. Playlist is unavailable for all these CLASSIC mixes. If you want to know the artist Shazam it. Thank you for listening. Enjoy!
