09.24 DJ'S SETS & LIVE PA'S

In anticipation of the 2023 edition of the MOSTRA Festival, with whom we joined forces to present you music from some of the most exciting and talented producers and DJs worldwide, in the next couple of weeks, we'll feature several truly outstanding music tales. 

The first mix in our 'Delayed x Mostra' mix series comes from the incredible French producer and DJ based in Germany, Aa Sudd, who has in this past year released two of the most groundbreaking and avant-garde albums of the moment: one with Konduku as Konsudd and another released just a month or so ago on Midgar. 

Aa Sudd's mix is a true masterpiece exploring the dub's hypnotic and atmospheric realms. With intricate and captivating polyrhythms, this mix takes listeners on a psychedelic journey through sound. The various rhythms blend seamlessly, creating a truly otherworldly experience when you listen to it on your headphones.

Aa Sudd will play on the festival's opening day, Thursday, April 6, from 9-11 pm at the Hangar.

Local
The pandemic highlighted the importance of local communities, local institutions and local support for one another. We at Mostra continue the commitment to our Local, not only by programming local artists on the line-up, but also through how we choose our suppliers and other collaborations in the city. And we go further: an exhibitors' Fira for the duration of the festival, generating our own media content during the year through MostRadio, the Mostra’m series of debates, seminars and conferences in parallel with the festival, and our ExtraMostra series of events in venues across Barcelona place Mostra’s roots firmly in their local environment.

Inclusive
Mostra is a festival that reflects on the realities that surround us in electronic music. We are committed to breaking the gender gap in a scene that is traditionally very masculinised. We try to reflect this in our programming, in our team, and in the values we promote: we want a friendly and safe space where there is no room for any kind of violence, and where respect for diversity is fundamental. We have developed our own protocol with a gender perspective, and we seek to raise awareness in a transversal way throughout the project.

Sustainable
Mostra is a festival that seeks to be a social and environmental benchmark through its actions. We follow the most up-to-date sustainable protocols and develop good practice in relation to both city and planet. We have created the role of Sustainability Director who leads and implements an action plan based on sustainable experiences; we limit the programming of artists from overseas to reduce our carbon footprint; and we are committed to contracting and collaborating with social integration and social and solidarity organisations from Barcelona.

Techy interludes, squelchy bounce and breaky surprises all define @al-den-te's unique signature sound. Aussie born, France based, al dente has been making a name for himself through carefully curated releases on @neurocrankk, @thespacebetweenus and of most recent @purespacefm.
 
“I’m always listening to lots of different types of mixes and productions, especially from the 2000-2010 period, which definitely inspire my own mixes and productions a lot. There seems to always be a specific sound or moment in an old mix or track I find, which then inspires me to produce or dig for that vibe.”
 
“I have a few gigs and releases planned over the next few months, which I’m so so excited for! It definitely feels surreal to be playing outside of Australia for the first time. This compilation sneaks into the soundscapes of the ambient room at Perpen and its population and marauders. The line up is packed with friends and family that are part of the event, who shared their vision of that cabin on the forest. A continous play has been edited for a cassette as a one-piece composition, with no aim to make a dj set but to have a more seamless experience throughout the different tracks. Welcome to the Ambient Room; it might be a daylight outside already.

Contributing our latest episode is London’s ANNX, a regular figure within the city’s cutting-edge undercurrent whose many contributions include co-curation of the Whomp, Perspectives, and once-shrouded Magick events, and a residency at the beloved Above Below festival. Anna’s tireless dedication to the scene goes hand-in-hand with her unmistakable talent behind the decks, as evidenced by an impressive repertoire of mixes and set recordings, and which I was fortunate enough to witness first-hand last summer in the Chilterns. Here Anna demonstrates her well-honed craft over the course of two meticulously plotted hours, diving seamlessly into manifold forms of deep, heavy psychedelia before emerging in a wave of euphoric bliss.
