"Emphasize the bells in an urban field recording."

Tried to isolate one ring of the bell, added some resonation and reverb, then fed it to a sampler and thats what the main melody and counter melodies are made from.  Theres also an ambient track of a bus taking off w/ resonation and reverb.  The bit at the end is just me throwing a wrench in with heavy chorus and distortion before cutting back to the original field recording for a moment to kind of throw the listener back into reality.

This is the second third of the #DisquietJunto Trios project. The left-panned section was Torpid Scorpion's contribution, while the piano on the right comes from me.

My contribution is on the right. 

For my part, I acted in a supporting role, starting with 14 Below Zero’s notes & Cherry Audio’s emulation of Octave Electronics’ 1976 CAT synth and then adding effects & editing where I felt appropriate. I had such a block on mixing this because I dislike hard panning for most things…so I mixed it in a way I preferred. After I felt good about that mix, I hard panned it again (except for some effects) and yeah, I still liked it. This should be fun for someone to add to next week.

Disquiet Junto Project 0698: Second Third
The Assignment: Record the second third of a trio.

There were many pieces I liked a lot from part 1 and I tried out a couple of combinations. 
I settled on the track by Samplair: https://soundcloud.com/user-248104983/disquiet0697. 

I combined this with a recording of some ‘extended technique’ zither. 
The extended technique being that the zither is excited using a fast rotating disc with a magnet attached to it. Depending on the frequency with which the magnet rotates (compared to the resonant frequencies of each string), it can force oscillations in one or more strings. The sound this produces is quite rich and complex with lots of movement.

Interestingly, the combination of these sounds, which can at times be quite harsh and distorted, with Samplair’s ‘nightmare carnival’ made for a track that I found… rather soothing.

The all-synth background is great. I thought the contrast between those synth tracks and a warm, acoustic tone could be interesting, so I improvised a lead part on tenor ukulele. I also added an infra bass drone playing the tonic, and used a little software I’m beta testing that generates sound from a text prompt using some kind of AI (can’t say more here, but it’s fun for drones!).
It's like a dark, abstract recitativo, hope you like it.
