Finally released this new track that I produced with my fellow bandmates over the last four months. I want to dedicate the work I put into this music to Palestinian children suffering under the Israeli bombardment, siege, and Occupation, and have decided to release it on Bandcamp as a way to raise a donation fund for Emergency Aid in Gaza. 

It’s hard to believe that in only half the amount of time I took to produce this track, over 2,000 Gazans were killed and 500 of them were children. Now, as many as 1,500 children are orphans, 3,000 Gazans are injured and need medical attention, and thousands of homes have been completely destroyed. 

The point is, a lot of our brothers and sisters in Gaza are suffering and they could use some help RIGHT NOW. 

You can help support the lives of the children in Gaza by buying this track for $5 or more, as I pledge to donate ALL proceeds to Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA). 

MECA is a non-profit organization based in Berkeley, CA that works for the rights of children in the Middle East and also sends direct humanitarian aid to Gaza. You can read more about MECA and their fund for Emergency Aid in Gaza here: www.mecaforpeace.org

In fall 2014 and spring 2015, passive acoustic data were collected via autonomous gliders east of Guam in an area that included the Mariana Trench Marine National Monument. A short (2–4 s), complex sound was recorded that features a ∼38 Hz moan with both harmonics and amplitude modulation, followed by broad-frequency metallic-sounding sweeps up to 7.5 kHz. This sound was recorded regularly during both fall and spring surveys. Aurally, the sound is quite unusual and most resembles the minke whale “Star Wars” call. It is likely this sound is biological and produced by a baleen whale.
