Welcome back to sunshine, y'all... A little collection of upbeat funk, soul and disco jams to get you in the mood to be outdoors with all your friends and fam, dancing with a BBQ drumstick in one hand and a beer in the other.

And while you're listening, mark this date on your calendar: Saturday May 3rd, at The HiFi Club. The one and only Late Nite Tuff Guy will grace our fair city and start the summer off right, in true disco debonaire fashion.

This mix is peppered with some really smart people talking about the creative musical outburst in NYC that led from latin, rock, funk, and pop music into disco, which exploded into the phenomenon known as Studio 54. 

Immense popularity spawned cultural elitism, which quickly became resentment among the less privileged of New York, and eventually drove the poorer black residents of the South Bronx to hijack power from streetlamps, set up their parents' turntables and play old funk breaks for true old fashioned block parties.

1) Tell us a bit about yourself and your record collection"

Well, I think I started collecting records back in 2003 shortly after I've started producing.
I was totally into Ninja Tune and Tru Thoughts stuff at this time.
I had a lot to discover at this point. Diggin at Discogs and shops was a new fresh thing for me.
I started collecting Downtempo music and was then exploring Funk & Soul. I was never into rare
records cause I did not have the money, I collected more contemporary club music.
So my collection contains mostly modern Funk, Soul and Club music and less 60' or 70's music.
Around 2010 my love for library music began. But I wasn't collecting the "mainstream" labels
like KPM than more small and obscure labels which had sometimes less than 20 releases. But with library music it's the same thing you have with rare funk records....they are very expensive unless you have a lucky find somewhere.

2) 45/7 is all about celebrating the 7". Can you tell us a bit about what you love about the format.

Hmm...I'm not sure. It's handy, it's a simple format...each song has it's own side... does this make sense?

3) One hour of vinyl goodness... can you talk us through your selection for your 45/7 mix?

I've tried to select tunes under the view of "The new, the classic and the unexplored" to have a good mixture.

4) Where can people catch you / listen to your music?

Soundcloud, Mixcloud and regular DJ Sets at the Mojo Club Hamburg.

Early 2008 we finished our second mixtape, “Lektion #2″. A 65 minute collage with hundreds of samples  from all kinds of sources: Spanish International Brigades, British soft porn soundtracks and Turkish women’s liberation anthems to rap legends and doom boom from the deep eighties. An insane wave of hype cought the School and “Lektion #2″ ended up being the best reviewed Danish release in 2008!
