المختار هو مشروع موسيقي حر، عربي يخلط أنواع من الموسيقى لاستحداث أصوات بديله للحرية، بدأ في عام 2013، مبني على فكرة التعاون  في العاصمه عمان، من كتابة وأداء  عامر الطاهر، ينتج هذا المشروع في الأردن، يتطلع لأرجاء الوطن العربي كمساحات تعبيرية خصبة، يدمج المحتوى الإقليمي والشخصي ومؤثرات هذا المكان على إيقاع يعكس تسارع الأحداث وتباطؤ النتائج، لا تنحصر رسالة "المختار" في الحي كما عرف هذا اللقب، اختير هذا الاسم كناية عن مهام "المختار" المتعارف عليها في بلاد الشام، وهو المعني بشؤون الناس من حوله، المختار منهم لهم ليكون ملجأ للجدليات .
يعود إلهام هذا المشروع للحاجة لأنماط تفكير معتدلة تدعو للتجميع والوعي التام عن أبعاد التفرق .
