After a swathe of fine releases popping up all over the shop on the likes of Slothboogie, Moiss, Tropical Disco and DOBRO records, I Gemin has made quite a name for himself with his signature shuffling beat laden funk and sample laden house music. Being a huge fan of his work for many years Hot Digits Music label boss Fingerman leapt at the chance to host this excellent producer onto his label with a superb 3 track EP of crisp edit/not edit tracks complete with I Gemin’s trademark bottom heavy b-lines and twisted disco samples. Fingerman also steps in for a chunky remix to seal the deal!

The Balearic mean machine, Cal Gibson is back on Paper with five tracks of leftfield, soulful electronica to warm the darkest of days. 

Boo Boo 4 Sure takes pitched down disco beats and lush chords for a track  aimed at the stars. 

Oh People's vocal sample is laid over a super late night, neon electronic jam for pure deep soul. 

Stay is Balearic folk for deep waters as the vocal refrain gets turned around and dubbed into the cosmos. 

Sooner of Later keeps it psychedelic and late night with tripped out delays, wonky vocals and buried jazzy electronics. 

Finally, Ache All Over cycles a vocal sample over filtered samples and a 4/4 sub kick with all kinds of studio black magic.

Green Gorilla Lounge fills out its origin story with the re-introduction of founding member Anthony Mansfield to the release schedule. Since 2001, Anthony has been a part of the infamous GGL club night in San Francisco with DJ M3, his eternal partner in crime. His return is marked by the glorious “Bricks,” a groovy acid chugger that solidifies the sound Anthony sculpted with his cult-favorite Hector Works imprint. Hypnotic mid-tempo rhythms, psychedelic voice snippets, meaty synths, and big drum fills round out this dark-as-night DJ treat.

This single includes a chunky remix from Om Records staple Shiny Objects, adding bright synth lines, sparse percussive dubbiness, and spacey echo effects. And then, if that weren’t enough, another Hector Works veteran, Nick Chacona (Moodmusic, 20:20 Vision) joins Anthony for a surprise appearance with the wild dance floor sound experiment of “Pidgeon.” Trippy in all the right places, “Pidgeon” further defines the 3 AM sound of the Green Gorilla Lounge — that magic moment when things get simultaneously messy and marvelous. Sleazy disco warriors, unite.
