Monster Mix is a roleshift AU originally made back in 2016/2017 by an old friend of mine. Sadly they've since left the community, but that doesn't inherently mean I can't show the project some love still! The premise is still somewhat undecided upon since a lot of this was done on a whim. A lot of the role choices will be based on old ideas, but some new ideas have made it in as well that still make it a little different from its predecessor.

As stated by the previous track, Ruins/New Home swaps with Waterfall. This time, it emphasizes the New Home aspect a lot more than Ruins. the Memory/His Theme motif plays in Waterfall twice. Therefore, I swap it with the original intro motif. On top of that, this motif and OUaT playing altogether is to represent how far 'Chara' has come in their long journey. Anyway, welcome to New Hope! Asgore swaps with Toriel, definitively. Instead of wielding 'fire magic', he and Toriel wield water crystal magic! Asgore is an old farmer living in a flowering ranch with a hobby for playing guitar. The reset bell from waterfall swaps with the save point, and is now white/silver-colored. And just as importantly, have "faith" in yourself to the end!

Wow, an update! (I've been waiting for this to be uploaded lol) But anyway, I decided to use genesis instrumentation since SEGA and Nintendo swap in this one. Don't worry, if you like the old one better. I still have it uploaded, just not marked as official anymore.

The Annoying Dog is the Flowey replacement. It's not particularly malicious, doesn't have any real desire to kill Frisk or take their soul, but it's definitely prone to being cute little bastard.

Alphys is the Toriel replacement. After a freak incident regarding Determination experiments and Monsters who had fallen down, Alphys was forced to come clean about the unfortunate results of her experiments. While nobody seemed to particularly hate or blame Alphys for what happened, she didn't feel comfortable in her position of Royal Scientist anymore and took to the Ruins which at that point had been relatively deserted, save for a small assortment of monsters.

With some help, Alphys transformed the Ruins into a much more comfortable space, not just for herself, but the monsters who she would grow attached to as she lived there. They didn't know what she had done, nobody hardly went to the Ruins, and surely nobody would gossip about her, would they?

I'm really stuck on how to approach and compose some commissions, so I think I need to create something else for the time being. My friends on UTHH team gave me ideas about a Raine battle theme, so I decided to take a crack at it. :D

This is a conceptual and non-canon battle theme for Raine that would happen in an aborted No Mercy route or a Neutral route where Varik and Mysteryman kills a lot of monsters. Contains pre-existing motifs and new ones. I had fun making it :)

Decidedly, Undyne takes the role of Toriel. In this scenario, she is the empress of monsterkind. As a ruler, it's her duty to take care and help everyone who comes across her. And luckily, the person she stumbles upon is NOT a human, but a monster, which is why she thinks he's part of her subject and is friendly towards him (plus the lack of intimidation in her track). Despite her aggressive nature, she always puts a cheerful smile on her face and acts like an actual, competent leader.

This theme is basically "Undyne" if it was more regal and heroic. I put a little bit of original motif to it due to her developed character. I had fun figuring out what she is in this AU and I'm hoping to share more of her since her character doesn't stop there! Beside, this track represents what people see her... rather than herself.

Long ago, some of Frisk's friends went missing. Nobody ever found out what happened to them, but Frisk knew it had something to do with that mountain.

After falling in, Frisk finally wakes up, and is met with the disembodied voices of their friends, serving as some sort of guidance on their journey throughout the underground. The fallen humans all serve as the Chara replacement.

(Note that Determination here is meant to represent the humans collectively, as opposed to representing Frisk/their SOUL.)

This track's received an update to somewhat better suit the contexts in which this would play.

===== NOTES =====
This song did not go through a very drastic change from its previous incarnation. Originally I planned for the menu themes to actually have a merciless equivalent the further down that route you go, but realized that it probably would just go silent eventually rather than building up to something instrumentally heavier and heavier. That said, I still in general wanted this first version of the menu theme to maintain a more neutral tone.

Also for anyone who's been wondering, I never did specifically reveal anything, but Undyne is the one narrating the Once Upon A Time intro sequence, as well as this little piece of flavor text in the menu.

In the Dark

Monster Mix is an Undertale AU made by a friend of mine back in 2016-2017. They've unfortunately since left the Undertale SoundCloud scene, but I still look back on this AU rather fondly. We've gone through numerous attempts of reiterating the AU, but the approach I'm taking here is having it based heavily on the oldest versions of the roles we had decided on. While the newer ones were definitely very cool too, it doesn't feel right to do that new take without them on board.

The roles will be revealed as time goes on, but there's a decent chance they're already known to quite a handful of you.
