Not content to be labeled as merely a DJ, a producer, or even a DJ/Producer, Melvin Oliphant III aka Traxx is a lover of music - one with a passion so intense that it overcomes genre divides to weave an altogether original, exciting, and multi-textured musical fabric which envelops both the avid clubber and the home listener, as well as everyone in between.

In 2007 Traxx founded Nation as a platform for the Jakbeat sound. He also released on numerous labels such as Relief, M/O/S, Gigolo, Muzique, Crème Organization, Antenna and Crème-Jak, under different monikers such as XXart, Saturn V, X2, The Green Goblin and Dirty Criminals. He collaborated with James T. Cotton, DJ Hell, Green Velvet, Hieroglyphic Being, DeeCoy and Legowelt to shape his unique definition of Jakbeat.

Perry “Paris” Ellis first made his mark as a DJ in the fabled early 90s Midwest rave scene, where the proximity of Chicago and Detroit had a massive influence on both his tastes and his mixing style. His style fuses disco, jack tracks, and slick techno with long blends and mixer tricks, and his crates are a trainspotter’s dream, carefully curated by decades of digging.

Born in San Francisco and influenced heavily by hip hop, industrial, and legends like The KLF, Yello, and M|A|R|R|S, he eventually landed in Cincinnati, Ohio. A quick drive to Detroit and hours spent in the beloved dance room of Record Time sealed his fate, along with warehouse parties where he could see the best of Detroit every weekend. “The experience opened my eyes to techno in its native habitat and truly changed my life FOREVER. I cannot put into words what I experienced in those dark warehouses.”
After a few years laying low, he’s back in his home city of San Francisco and throwing himself back into the mix. When he hits the decks, he gets the floor moving by connecting the dots between the sounds of Chicago & Detroit and sharing authentic underground sounds with proper midwest flair.

The few trax featured here, were created in the 90s, and very early 2000s. I used an MPC, a couple of rack mount synths, a couple of free standing synthesizers, a 12 channel console and recorded to DAT. No software other than the floppy discs that I slid into the MPC.
There is also a mixtape from 1996 & 2020.

Kyiv-based Mykhailo Iliushchenko, known to the entire Ukrainian underground under the aliases Luschn and IV Mickey, has been an integral part of the capital's electronic scene for more than a decade. This producer and selector started his career playing funk from seven-inch records in the cult Xlib many years ago. After that, he went on to play all the main venues all over Kyiv and the whole country - from the legendary Fazenda, the old Keller, Odesa's Agharti and Kharkiv's Zhyvot and Kultura Zvuka to a residency at the now-defunct River PORT and performances at Collider, Mezzanine, Otel' and Closer.

Nowadays, Luschn is a true universal soldier of the music world, confidently working on the fringe of many styles. He skilfully spins melodic laces of house and tech-house from different eras and countries, minimal, dub-techno, Detroit electro-funk and electro, nu-disco and a bunch of other styles for which music critics and journalists have not yet come up with definitions and frameworks. The most important thing is that Misha does all this for a noble purpose - to blow listeners' minds in a good way. And make their hearts and souls dance as if everything exists only here and now. After all, this is probably one of the main sacred tasks of music and creativity in general.
