This song is based upon a Taiwanese legend that explains how fireflies came to be.  Here is a link to the full story:  https://islandfolklore.com/fireflies/  I'll try to give a quick overview here:  Legend has it that there were 2 sisters and their widower father.  One day, their father had to go into a distant town on business.  He said he'd be back by sundown.  Business took longer than expected, and he had to take refuge at a small inn.  The younger daughter grew worried and impatient and ran into the night to find him.  Her older sister gave chase, but got turned around in the darkness.  She prayed for light to help her find her family.  Around dawn, she was found drowned in a nearby lake.  The villagers who found her saw small globes of light hovering around her.  The gods answered her prayers, but too late.  Thus were fireflies born.

Firefly - Blond Weasel

I'm makin' this up as I go along.  Here you will find songs in various states of completion--some of them actually finished!  Most are by "Moon to Monk",  but there are tunes by "Blond Weasel" (a band I'm in with my brother Christopher).  There are several collaborations with talented people.
