Jackson McNamara, better known as Makk, is a Naarm/Melbourne producer & DJ, establishing himself in the local dance music scene. 

House in techno and pure groove are some words to describe the nature of Makk’s productions and mixes. With a knack for swinging basslines, hard hitting drums and groovy & dreamy chords, Makk presents all these sounds for the second instalment of our Mortimore Mix series 💖

Remmah continues its quest to unearth exciting brand new talent with the debut EP from mysterious UK-based producer Rhythm From Mars, featuring a remix from Glasgow's Anna Gram, who herself debuted on Remmah in 2021 and has subsequently featured on adored Munich imprint Permanent Vacation.

As suggested by the name, Rhythm From Mars’s approach to music-making aims to tell his own cosmic sci-fi stories through laser music, dark disco and italo, all built around drums that kick harder than ten Barsoom Thoats. Perfect for the output of Rory Hamilton aka Hammer’s digital imprint, which has charted its own course through sci-fi italo and acid on its 11 previous releases.

The EP kicks of with City of Mars’ marching beat, adorned with italo melodies and growling synth lines, all of which are further heightened on Anna Gram’s Red Planet Remix, which dials up the original’s chugging rhythm and hypnotic elements. Moon Request marries insistent forward motion with fizzing acid lines, while the title track closes Rhythm From Mars’ assured inaugural release on a note of dancefloor panic with the irresistible urgency of its hectic synth stabs and rolling percussion.

This week for episode 43 we are proud to present another mix recorded live during our collaboration with the Abercrombie Hotel over the June long weekend from the inimitable Shake Daddy. 

As a talented DJ with roots in Hong Kong and Naarm (Melbourne), Shake Daddy continues to regularly blow crowds away with her relentless and uncompromising mixing in venues throughout both Eora (Sydney) and the rest of the country. 

After the release of her debut EP 'Roots', Shake Daddy has been working tirelessly on honing her production skills and has banked up numerous productions that she is just about ready to release onto the world. Take a trip back to the incredible night and the epic set that was as Shake Daddy treats us to a mix stuffed full on her own unreleased goodness.

Next up in the mix is Naarm based DJ/producer Kettledrum. Bringing us an eclectic selection of grooves from house to techno, Kettledrum is bound to no genre as he takes us on a seamless yet unpredictable journey in this mix.

Known for his heavyweight productions in the Naarm underground scene, most notably his “The Now” EP on @abode.label and his remix of @djhomeinvader’s track “8skip”, these productions have garnered Kettledrum well-deserved praise from local and international talent.

What more can be said about Cassettes For Kids? Having played at most major festivals in Australia as well as a Boiler Room set under his belt, Cassettes is no stranger to the Naarm and Australian dance scene. With varying styles and genres in his mixing skillset, each set and mix from Zak offers something different to the last. Same can be said for the mix he has delivered us which consists of old disco and house heaters as well as plenty of UK garage. 

Cassettes has recently started up a new record label called @pointofyoulabel where he has dropped two singles titled ‘Your Love’ and ‘Focus’ since it’s launch. As for upcoming releases on his label, Zak plans to release an EP at the end of the month. Cassettes will also be running a party in late September with some local legends so keep your eyes peeled 👀
