On Johan Lindström Septett’s second album, Swedish pedal steel player, composer and producer, Johan Lindström, invites the listener to dive deeper into his kalejdoscopic musical mind.

Their debut album was released in early 2018, receiving praise around the globe. It ended up being nominated for a Swedish Grammy, while the septet itself received the “Band of the Year” award at the Swedish Radio jazz gala.
An in-demand musician and producer throughout Scandinavia since the 90’s, Johan is no newcomer to the scene. Featured on pedal steel in a jazz quintet setting. Johan was also a member of saxophonist/clarinetist Per Texas Johanssons group, which took Europe by storm in the 90’s. On the jazz/impro scene he is mainly known as a founding member of the group Tonbruket, which also features bassist Dan Berglund, formerly of EST (Esbjörn Svensson Trio).
Tonbruket has received four Swedish Grammy awards.

For his own septet, Johan assembled six of his favorite musicians on the Swedish jazz scene. Their new album, ”On the asylum”, was mainly recorded in the legendary Atlantis Studio in Stockholm – coincidentally, the very place where Johan first met and worked with Elvis Costello, who makes a guest appearance on the album, reciting his own lyrics on the opening track.

Johan Lindström was born in Stockholm in 1972 and has been a professional musician since 1991, playing guitar, piano and pedal steel. Johan has worked with artists like Ane Brun, Tonbruket, Rebecka Törnqvist, Graveyard, Susanne Sundføer, Nils Petter Molvaer, Anna Ternheim, Freddie Wadling, Elvis Costello, Patti Smith, Sly & Robbie, Ebbot Lundberg, Edda Magnason, Kristian Kjellvander, Goran Kajfes, Kristofer Åström, Big Johnny Jewel and many more.
