Working Rhythms Records, New York City, is proud to announce its very first release: a pair of timeless house productions by Brooklyn-based producer/DJ Kyle Louis (fka KLM). The dark, atmospheric roller “Visitor” and its deep and sensual B-side “Can’t Get Back” both feature thick melodic bass lines, playful yet gritty drum patterns, and a reverence for dance music’s roots. Kyle Louis spent years playing and promoting underground house and disco parties in New York before withdrawing to the comfort of his home studio. Since then, he’s been honing his groovy aesthetic and eventually releasing his 2022 debut, Run It Back EP, on NYC label Fortune Signal.


Visitor / Can’t Get Back is the latest partnership between longtime friends Louis and Working Rhythms Records boss D.D. Curry, who first met as neighbors in a decaying Brooklyn apartment building before a gas leak prompted them to quickly move out. Kyle’s pair of fresh new tracks comprise the first release from this new label project from Curry and designer Nicholas Sedlazek.

“Visitor” hits streamers on March 10, 2023. The full release with both tracks arrives on all streaming and download platforms March 24.

In his Working Rhythms Records debut, label boss D.D. Curry presents an energetic love letter to 90s garage house. “Take Me Away” is filled to the brim with Korg M1 piano stabs, chopped diva vocals, and bouncy bass lines - all the ingredients for a healthy dancefloor heater!

The project began as the soundtrack for the short film “Fuir” by Lloyd Knight, renowned principal dancer of the Martha Graham Dance Company, New York. Having received a pandemic-era Virtual Commission from Works & Process at the Guggenheim, Knight envisioned a dreamlike nostalgia trip to the club during a time when no one could go out. He approached Curry to create the soaring club tune for him to choreograph to; the resulting track is included on the EP as “D.D.’s Fuir Version,” which Curry subsequently reworked into the jackin’ house main mix. On remix duties is Brooklyn’s Kyle Louis, who flips “Take Me Away” into a UK bass-inspired broken beat blaster that’s ready to work your subwoofers overtime!

tradition was born from two individuals forging an identity in the studio that consisted of a heads down approach and a love of machines.

Taking inspiration from their ‘live run’ studio recordings, the duo of Matt Domino and Norris Raider have built a sound that resonates on many levels and is rooted in a ‘hands on’ approach to creativity, traditionally speaking of course.

‘Slip’: adventuring into vintage Detroit systems with razor arps, dubbed out chords, insistent bass and heavy acid hypnosis.

‘Switchblade’: emerging from the underworld ready to slash and scar with scuttling beats and contorted bass that may have you dancing, or hiding behind your hoodie.

Next up on Edinburgh imprint Fresh Take is the insanely talented Neidex with Seductive Beats - three cuts of fiercely individual, electro-tinged house music ripe for hazy days and heady nights.

All I Want is a skippy, synth laden cut with building melodies and satiating pay off. Dance Guru in an infectious, mid-tempo track which breathes with a familiarity and surprised with a hint of exotic instrumentation, perfect for any late night dance floor. Sex Anthem’s bubbling baseline, sparse soundscape and pulsating rhythm serves as a satisfying closer to the project.
Established in 2019, over the past few years Fresh Take Records has built an impressive catalogue of releases that champion sounds ranging from groove-led, organic house to thumping club-ready electro and soaring, broken-beat rave anthems. Though the tones may shift – sometimes wildly - from one release to the next, the quality of their output never wavers, establishing Fresh Take as one of the most reliable underground dance labels in the UK.

“Distant Shores” is a dreamy, saxophone-drenched house track oozing with balearic atmosphere, subtle breaks, and smooth synth bass. The production is a collaboration between New York house veteran Kyle Louis and Working Rhythms Records boss D.D. Curry, now based in London. They originally met in Brooklyn when Louis moved into the apartment upstairs from Curry's and bonded over the records Curry could hear through his ceiling. The pair is joined by another longtime friend, UK-via-NYC producer/DJ Panooc, who’s lent their conservatory-trained jazz sax skills to perfectly compliment the vibe.

Louis recalls, “It started off with D.D. sending me some Rhodes, bass and Panooc’s sax parts. Within a few hours, I had a mostly fleshed out track - chopping up those samples, adding a little break beat, some chunky drums and a couple new synths. I wanted it to be funky, emotional and a bit aggressive all at the same time. The title comes from Devin and I now being on separate shores after sharing Brooklyn for so long - now Brooklyn and London.”
