The highly anticipated Incomplete Light EP by Night On Wish Mountain is set for release on Juncture Music in February 2024. Rough textures and stark landscapes balanced with electrified dub-infused rhythms, brings some new direction to the label and continues to highlight local artists.

Paul Anthony, also known as Night On Wish Mountain, as well as KI, Canada High, Equal Ways, Rigid Body Dynamics, is also half of the Canadian Post Punk duo Touched Fables, who recently put out a very well received full length album called A Thousand Goodbyes on Disown Me Recordings.

Hailing from Ottawa, Canada, Paul is a prolific producer who got his start remixing electronic legends Mark Archer / Altern8, Si Begg, Unique 3, and Rhythmatic via UK based record label Mutate Records between 2010 and 2012. Aside from releasing music on dozens of labels around the world, many of Paul's tracks have been featured in independent films, documentaries, MTV / NBC / CBC and BBC 4 television shows, modern dance scores, and gallery installations

In our 20th celebration year we welcome back Loz Goddard! It’s been quite a while since we last saw him on our label. With his standout debut collab release with Harry Wolfman in 2016 he has developed a unique mix of electronica, deep soundscapes and lush organic Deep House on labels such as “Oath”, “Razor N Tape”, “Church”, “Outplay” and “Apparel Music”. Now he finally returns with a mini album that features beautiful crafted ambient and electronica cuts paired with three upbeat tracks that will for sure shake the dance floors in and outdoors this summer! Enjoy!

In his own words, here are some insights on the influences and production process of these six pieces:

The release is named after a night in the White Hotel in Salford watching Skee Mask. At the time I had a bunch of unfinished ambient ideas as a result of making “Balloon Tree Road” (out on Oath). There were a lot of ideas I still loved that didn’t get finished for that release, so I set about finishing them late 2022 & early 2023 with the view to releasing an EP or ‘mini album’ that was again angled a bit more towards home-listening.

The more upbeat tracks are newer jams that I created in 2023. I wanted to include a few club-ready tracks on the record as well, so the release appeals to DJ’s as well as home listeners. I approached the production much like my past two records on Oath, with lots of live drum elements, some sampling and a mixing approach which keeps everything sound warm and organic. It’s rough round the edges - as has been the case with my productions of late - and offers a nice contrast to my DJ sets and radio shows at the moment, in which I am playing mostly Deep/Progressive House, Breaks & Techno.

There’s some influence on the title track from the Deep & Lo-Fi House sound of artists like Baltra & Mall Grab, and I have taken influence from all the breaks I’ve been playing in DJ sets for ‘How’s This for a Vague Song Title’.

Boston staple Nick Minieri delivers two tracks that showcase Minieri’s love of swinging and sampling on the “L8 Nite Keys” EP. Originating as a snowy jam session with fellow Bostonian GMGN on hardware synths, the title track was chopped, re-sequenced and re-imagined by Minieri multiple times. The best attempt presented here, “L8 Nite Keys” explores the mature side of house with soulful vocal chops cut in UK Garage fashion. On the flip, Minieri combines dub-delayed synths, a swinging arpeggio, and a timeless Korg M1 bass patch to form “Pixel Perfect.” Crafted in the cold of winter, its carefree tropes pull you straight into spring, summer, and beyond.

Very first debut EP released by Language Lab label in 2005. The intro reflected the disproportionate intervention of the Czech police at the CzechTek festival, which acted on the orders of Prime Minister Jiří Paroubek. Trafo was inspired by the golden era of big triphop names (Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky ...). Espirito Santo and Mecca are well-known singles that led Yogi Rulez to victory in the Startér (Český rozhlas, Rádio Wave) talent contest. 100 CDs with fine printed booklet artwork were released at own expense.

The classic drum'n'bass modgroup Language Lab was originally formed in 1999 and re-established in the summer of 2003. Label released few recordings focused on quality drum'n'bass, breakbeat, downtempo and everything in-between.
