Monologues boss Ben Gomori's edits of African classics for Sterns Edits and Africa Seven have won fans far and wide, with DJs from Optimo to Hunee, Folamour, Horse Meat Disco and TSHA getting behind them. He continues this acclaimed body of work with this new release, carving up two gems and adding a little juice to them in the process. First up, a joyous slice of 1980s Camerooon from Emmanuel Kahe Et Jeanette Kemogne on 'Ye Medjuie', where rousing trumpet refrains meet undulating bass funk. Then the deep dubby skank of Nigeria's Akaba Man & The African Pride's 'Popular Side' goes on a Metro Area-flavoured excursion with distorted Melodica blasts rubbing up against a sweet-but-trippy synth solo and haunting vox synths.

Mexican singer / percussionist / producer/ DJ Pahua comes to Razor-N-Tape via a huge 12” + 7” vinyl remix project featuring some of the hottest producer names in current outer-national dance music.
Originally the singer of beloved Mexican band Sotomayor, Pahua blazed her own solo path in 2020, developing her unique electronic Latin sound through a series of EPs, culminating in the release of her standout Habita LP on Nacional Records in 2023. Garnering millions of streams, Habita established Pahua as an essential voice of modern alternative folk/pop in Latin America.  
Now, Razor-N-Tape brings her sound to the dance floors of the world with a varied remix package that honours the essence of the original music, while flipping it in quintessential RNT club-ready fashion. The list of remixers on this project includes both staples and newcomers to the RNT production stable. Label co-head JKriv turns in a late-nite bass mix of the exceedingly popular ‘Porque Yo,’ Tigerbalm brings her chugging international disco flair to ‘Pa’lante,’ Prince of Queens digs deep with a housey dub of ‘Calla,’ and Londoner Clive From Accounts takes ‘Caña Brava’ into moody nu-disco meets Amapiano territory. 
The label newcomers also deliver in a huge way, with LA-based Captain Planet and Quebecois producer Poirier each revealing very different but equally banging sides of the up-tempo ‘Espantapájaros,’ respectively percussive and thumping, and stripped down and hypnotic. Detroit Latin production legend John Beltran adorns the melancholic ‘Flor de Jazmin’ with a samba-inflected rhythmic foundation and a lush horn arrangement that transports you straight to Cafe del Mar, Ibiza. Mexican producer Belmar rounds out the package with a slow rolling and deep mix of ‘Porque Yo.’

A new Toy Tonics EP. It’s the second by Venezuelan house DJ and producer Gee Lane. Including amazing remixes by NYC mainstay musclecars!

Gee Lane’s debut EP Metamorphosis (with remixes by Demi Riquísimo and Divorce From New York Remix & PIEK ) came out last October. 
But as Virginie (her real name) is a steady name of the Toy Tonics crew now and plays almost every weekend at one of the worldwide Toy Tonics Jams, it makes sense to put out a follow up fast.

Gee Lane originally from Caracas, now living in Barcelona, is a passionate DJ and vinyl digger with an extraordinary positive energy and attitude. A DJ diva in a positive way. A unique personality with a very strong style (in music but also as a person) and very elaborated ability to read and play with the dancers. Like the first EP, this one has also been recorded in Barcelona and Berlin with a little help from Robin Braum from Athlete Whippet. The music reflects well on her roots and passion for everything that came out of New York’s dance culture. You can hear influences from the 80ies promo disco scenes as well as the 90ies Body & Soul/ Francois Kervorkian / Joe Claussell universe. In fact, Gee Lane after being raised in Caracas and musically educated by her father from a very early age (a composer and musician), moved to New York at a very young age in the late 90ies, where she fell in love with the HOUSE scene. And especially everything that happened at the famous and influential 'Body & Soul' club. 

This culture increased her curiosity to become a DJ (and vinyl digger herself) who is not just interested in house music but wants to explore other genres such as funk, Hip-Hop, jazz and Latin sounds and include these vibes into her DJ sets. As vinyl collector (and long-time record shop employee) since then, she is known for her musical eclecticism, which leads her to mix everything she wants...

ann Polewka is the man in charge of the GLBDOM label's fifth outing and a fine one it is too. He brings plenty of timeless house vibes to the opener 'Keep On' with its Kerri Chandler style bumping kicks and feel-good piano chords next to subtle vocal chops packed with soul. 'Oblivion' is another upbeat, uplifting house cut with a classic underbelly and rich chords to get those hands in the air. 'The Light' once again layers up well-crafted chords, irresistible drum funk and nice analogue percussion. Last of all, Jesse Bru's Sea Of Change remix of the same tune brings a more deep and late night feel to close out a top EP.

Funkyjaws Music comes though with more of that lovely loose-limbed disco goodness that is never going to fail in energising a decent dance floor. Let's Dance Volume 4 is another various artists affair that launches with James Greenwood & Aniello's feel-good 'Look Of Love' which has it all - the sweet female vocal, the florid strings, the rolling bassline and big brass leads. PREMIERE: JKRIV - MOONLIGHT DANCE [FJMEDITS 04]

Lips & Rhythm sails into Summer 2024 with a fresh EP from Residentes Balearicos. The Ibiza-based duo of Alessandro Doretto and Luca Averna have been turning out sun-soaked dance music for several years now from their studio in the islands. The title track Paraiso is a timeless tune with just the right blend of slowed down Acid and Flamenco guitar + claps. Polvo Mineral is a bit mysterious with ethereal pads, big drum fills and chanting. I Wanna Dance harkens back to the beautiful Italian Dream House era from the early 90s with lush chimes and driving synth lines over pitched down vocals and uplifting backing harmonies. The remix of Paraiso is from Brazil-born,
New York formed, Gaspar Muniz, who reworks the title track into a breaky electro number fit for a late night in Rio De Janeiro. A summer record that’s been dance-floor tested!

It’s been a long time coming but it’s finally happening… Lavan makes his debut on SlothBoogie with a five track EP of superb House rhythms. The Berlin resident opens the release with ‘Tremendous’, filled with US garage referencing chords and a stellar lead organ solo. Up next is the jacking pump of ‘Gwan Nasty’ with its classy chopped vocals, deep house chords and fierce drums. ‘Nonchalant’ chops in some classic vocal snippets over softer harmonies backed up by Lavan’s rough and ready drum programming and deep sub notes.

Toy Tonics head honcho Kapote teamed up with the label’s Italian disco king Sam Ruffillo to make a Latin House EP for the summer. Three tracks that fit great with the new wave of latino beats invading the house dance floors this summer. The short versions of these songs might work well on radios, but the long versions are pure DJ and dancer’s fun. The two guys are probably Toy Tonics main DJ duo now. They have been DJing every weekend of the last year in some of the best clubs in Europe. They are residents at Panorama Bar Berlin now and have been invited to share the same stage as Kaytranda and Jessie Ware at Sonar Festival 2024. And they have the right music for this summer. Latin House!

After years of dominance of Afro House, the grooves of South America seem to become the new thing in many DJs sets. The influences from Salsa, Boogaloo and other tropical elements, the hard Latin piano riffs connected with cowbells and a lot of conga grooves were already there last summer. But now it's the time they take over many dance floors. 

On this EP Sam Ruffillo and Kapote played all instruments themself. No samples. Instead pianos, basses, percussion, and guitars were played by the guys. Vocals also performed by the boys. This stuff is made to sing along. The rhythms and the chords catch you immediately. The melodies make you join the „band“. 

People who know Toy Tonics and the guys well, know that the both come from „real“ music-making. The guys have been playing in bands, doing jazz and funk music, before becoming dance producers and DJs. And now they combine all these skills and turn it into musically super catchy dance tracks. 

Latin house is a thing now. And Sam & Kapote have the grooves for it.
