Midnight Magic’s perennial disco anthem  “Beam Me Up” announced itself as an  instant classic from the moment of its  release in 2010, and at long last the band  has teamed up with fellow Brooklynites  Razor-N-Tape for a 10-year-anniversary  package (minus one lost year) that once  again establishes the timeless quality of  the song with a fresh and versatile  package of new remixes. 

Norwegian space-disco don Prins Thomas delivers a sprawling and elegant mix, grounding melodic and psychedelic elements over a bumping percussive disco rhythm treatment, stretching out over 8 minutes of blissful breakdowns, delays and driving bass lines. Kim Ann Foxman takes the song to a darker and dubbier place with her  “Beam Me To The Basement Mix,” layering samples of singer Tiffany Roth’s vocal and insistent acid synths over a heavy and pulsing low end. Each Other, a new project by Max Pask and NYC club royalty Justin Strauss, crafts an extended peak-time stormer of a mix, with churning analog drum and synth production that is somehow ravey,  New-Wavey and lush all at once.

These three mixes truly capture an entire club night in one record, each a beautifully unique interpretation that showcases the inimitable talent and creativity of the remixers, and is also a testament to the enduring perfection of the original. Cole Baby re-enters orbit with Dance Hoo Hah, an electro-tinged transmission featuring two original tracks and remixes from Bed of Roses style father Break Mode and United Color of Rhythm labelhead Fernanda Arrau. “Dance” is both the name of the first track and a won’t-take-no-for-an-answer command as we set off on our journey, armed with a percussive groove that emerges from the fog behind. The path ahead lights up with the titular “Hoo Hah,” disco drums and acid lines guiding the way until Break Mode reaches up from the netherworld with a remix of “Dance” that feels like a subterranean fever dream. Arrau provides the final push back into the stratosphere straight to the Bed of Roses star system with a high tempo “Hoo Hah” remix that rings triumphant and lights up the sky.

After the success of the first, there always had to be a second Buena Onda compilation. Before that arrives later this year comes a second delicious sampler featuring a remix from Calm, some 303 Balearic action from Iceland, Italian house newcomer Relative and a fresh Gallo rework.

Buena Onda is of course the cult Berlin-based party that constantly redefines Balearic music. It is run by Hell Yeah label boss Marco with resident DJ and co-founder Gallo and is a party that is both eclectic and euphoric, whether serving up slow acid or dreamy downtempo.

This sampler opens up with Buena Onda favourite Calm and his epic Mellow Mellow Acid remix of Gallo's 'Abysso,' which is long-legged, fulsome and laced with life-affirming piano chords. Then comes Icelandic artist Tonarunur who used to record as B.G. Baarregaard and has landed on the likes of Eskimo Recordings and Citizens of Vice. He layers deep acid lines into a smooth house groove that is sprinkled with cosmic dust. Italian house newcomer Relative then brings tumbling percussion, smeared chords and plenty of drama Italo vibes to his tune 'The Healing Place' and Gallo's Tropical Hinterhof Remix of Kayroy's 'Imagine' is five minutes of post-rave comedown bliss with gorgeous ambient design and celestial chord work that soothes the soul.

This is another perfect snapshot of the mature musical thrills you get at Buena Onda.

Weeks spent roaming the streets and suburbs of Delhi, Mumbai, its Kandivali neighborhood. A patient exploration of hidden gems in their dusty caves and warehouses, sometimes sleeveless and roughly piled up, warped by heat and time, in mint condition; litres of chaï.

Blunted Dummies - House For All (S-Man's Deep In The Vibe Edit)

St Christopher, the patron saint of the traveller. The tale goes that a man used to carry people across a river. One day a child asked to be taken across. Being someone used to carrying people across the river, Christopher was not phased as he put the young boy on his back but as he crossed the river the child grew heavier and heavier.
In a similar way Zorla by Christophe starts off unassuming and deep, much like the waters of the unnamed river of the legend of St Christopher. As the track goes on it gets heavier with acid licks building and building into a heavy acid stomper. But unlike the journey of Saint Christopher, this track isnt too heavy to carry, so we guess that is where the analogy ends.
This on the 6th release from Leeds based DJ Trio Producers/Podcasters all round good eggs Clandestino Records, sees a deep groove which would suit dark rooms and big slick clubs with its hefty reverb and tight percussion which sounds more Chicago than Yorkshire. We suggest you get on this one right away.
