Fred Ventura and Rafał Lachmirowicz, aka Also Playable Mono, have teamed up, All We Need being the pairing’s audio vision of italo disco. Steady kicks and cascading cowbells pave the way for an infectious synthline before a vocoder-enveloped Ventura smoulders with a burning intensity. Bold chords and pulsating rhythms are at the robotic heart of “System Breakdown On Wikileaks”. Bombastic and brilliant, this electrified disco dreadnaught swings with the power of a wrecking ball; a power that only amplifies the track’s impacting message of our very civilisation’s future. Scaling notes spiral ever higher in the addictive groove of “In The Night”, A.P.Mono’s computerised words adopting the mantle of his machines. Circling samples introduce “The News”. Rhythms are clean and tight, snapping at the tails of soaring synthwork with Ventura’s smoky social commentary, coupled with the silken and sonorous Chelsea Muller, offering something better for us all.

Winner of a song contest run by a German underwear and bathing suit company in 1984. The prize was the production of a song with professional musicians - namely this very song. Judging by her rapping skills, the competition must have been a little on the weak side of things... 😆 It needed some seriously cheesy Schlager bits removed and more of the electronic good stuff. Release number 12 comes from the label founder Kolomensky and explores some tribal aesthetics. There are two versions of the title track ‘Mystic Rush’ — electro tool and lighter ‘disco-techno’ with slight blend between the genres. Second original ‘Jungle Mirror’ is an ambient cut with tropical field recordings unfolding the story which is contained in the track title. 

On the remixes we have our Vilnius favorite, prolific Roe Deers with groovy but unusual for him mellow version of the title track and Milan based Tagliabue who transforms ‘Jungle Mirror’ into tense and psychedelic epic trip.

Power-packed with every leftfield shade and flavour we’ve come to know and love Jennifer Cardini’s label for. Dark disco, sexy synthwave, slo-mo cosmic funk and sleazy, dubby techno are all deep in the mix.

Highlights come in all forms and flavours, shapes and sizes from Man Power’s moody, hypnotic opener ‘Casual Loop’ right the way through to Invoker’s emotional breakbeat farewell ‘Let The World Heal’. Elsewhere Damon Jee and Darlyn Vlys go full trance on ‘Sin City’, V takes on a cult Lithuanian classic from the mid 90s 'Insect Dance’, Julian Stetter and Johannes Klingebiel collaborate for the very first time… And Rodion flips Jarle Brathen and Hard Ton’s ‘Master In Disguise’ into an electro overture.

All this and stacks more; Correspondant have defied the curse of 2020 with musical innovation and premium positive vibrations. Keep on marching.
