“Take Two” is a new series of EP’s under SaturdaySelects that focuses on the creativity and rendition of artists we work on remixes and edits of some of their favourite tracks. This gives a new outlook at an existing track adding flavours and sounds that give the track a new lease of life. The project also pairs up a designer with the artist of the project to create a collaborative effort in giving their analysis of the tracks vibe and translates it into the cover design of the EP, hence creating an audio-visual synergy and project.

„Disco Ballz“ is happiness pur and will put a big smile on your face. A genuine House track with a touch of Disco. Straight up funky, 4-to-the-floor with an energetic infinity looped female voice build up to the climax. Pure love for the dance floor.

The flip is „Neva Gone“, a more boisterous jam with wipping hats and earthy kicks bounding about with tons of energy below. Another expert vocal sample really adds flame to the fire and the endless filter tweaks really make this one jump out of the speakers, boom! :)

Our next premiere comes to you from rhythm section aficionado Contours. After the much acclaimed Loose Wood EP back in 2016, North West is the Manchester Producer’s second release for Shall Not Fade. North West is brimming with all the delicacies we have come to expect from a Contours EP:  jazzy rhodes chords, tasty sax licks, and incredibly intricate polyrhythmic drum patterns.

Our choice cut from the EP is the title track, North West. The track opens with an airy repeating trumpet line that slowly rises much like the morning fog, as shimmering bells begin to sway around in the mix like a brisk gust on wind chimes. This eventually gives way to an entrancing conga pattern that pitters and patters like rain drops on a roof. Eventually a 2-step kick comes in and adds even further bounce to the track. On North West, Contours showcases his unique ability to fuse jazz and afro-beat influences into a pulsing thought provoking journey through a misty and grayscale terrain.
