‘High Drama’ sees SONNS & Phil Kieran team up to drop four leftfield cuts on Hottrax this October. 

Stretching 20 years, Phil Kieran’s illustrious career includes working with legends like Green Velvet, Peter Hook and Gary Numan, remixing Depeche Mode, as well as working closely with David Holmes on numerous projects. Meanwhile, his solo discography features appearances on labels like Hotflush, Yoshitoshi, Soma and Skint, not to mention albums on Cocoon and last year’s Hot Creations debut. 

Based in LA, where the pair produced this EP, Alexandre Mouracade has also earned his stripes with nearly two decades as a musician and DJ. More recently he’s been producing under SONNS and as the duo Split Secs, releasing music on Kompakt, Throne Of Blood and his own label Machine Limited, with a forthcoming release also set to land on ESP Institute. 

Initiating the package, ‘High Drama’ sets the tone with subtle atmospherics as arpeggios make way for infectious percussion and cavernous bass. ‘Syrens’ is similarly intricate in its aesthetic, meandering forward with spectral melodies and squelchy sounds before moving into the esoteric and mesmerizing ‘Castro Novo’. Finally, ‘Engine 29’ is a constantly evolving journey from start to finish with its syncopated rhythm, undulating synths and cacophony of effects.

American producer Kevin Knapp delivers his energetic house cut ‘Survivor’ with a remix from DJ Deeon on Hottrax this December. 

Kevin Knapp’s consistent delivery of high quality, hip-hop influenced house music has seen releases on esteemed labels including Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations and VIVa MUSiC. Meanwhile, remixer DJ Deeon has grown from humble beginnings, selling DJ Mixtapes in Chicago parking lots, to playing a pivotal role in pioneering label Dance Mania. Kevin Knapp continues to cement his reputation within the house music scene with ‘Survivor’ on Jamie Jones’ Hottrax. 

‘Survivor’ delivers a hypnotic vocal hook and dubbed out transitions which are underpinned by sharp percussion and a pulsating low-end before Chicago-based DJ Deeon’s remix delivers warped samples from the original on top of a crunchy percussive composition, distorted synthesizer stabs and a melodic bass hook to close the release. Kevin Knapp’s ‘Survivor’ drops on Hottrax on 15th December 2017.

July sees Greece’s Alex Dimou team up with vocalist Aquarius Heaven with ‘Swimming Pool’ on Hottrax featuring a remix from Moscow Records founder Archie Hamilton.  
 
Debuting on Elite Records in 2007, Alex Dimou has gone on to release on influential labels like Get Physical, Rebellion, Audiomatique and Kindisch. His deep and sultry house music has received continual support from names like M.A.N.D.Y, Maya Jane Coles and Jamie Jones, with the latter now signing him to Hottrax where Dimou follows appearances by Butane, Christian Burkhardt, Paco Wegmann, and Meat. 
 
Partnering up with Aquarius Heaven, who’s renowned for appearances on labels like Circus Company, Visionquest, Wolf + Lamb and Crosstown Rebels, ‘Swimming Pool’ kicks things off with a mysterious aesthetic utilising a thumping bassline and Heaven’s twisted vocals before the more upbeat ‘Reckoner’ demonstrates an amalgamation of synth blips, shuffled rhythms and distorted vox samples. Finishing things off, London’s Archie Hamilton presents his rework of ‘Swimming Pool’, delivering a modulated low end and resonant atmospherics to conclude the package.
