Tchad Blake, sonic architect for Tom Waits and Elvis Costello, agreed: “Strange Part of the Country is an amazing album. I still listen to it.”

Fleetwood Mac’s Peter Green was also a fan, making a rare visit to Conil’s studio to record a mellow take on “Woke Up Around Midnight,” his smoky tribute to the jazz greats.

Conil’s distinct sound has drawn praise from Marc Ribot, Davey Graham, Pino Palladino, and John Leckie - artists and producers known for recognising the real thing when they hear it.

Upon release, Strange Part of the Country made quiet but lasting waves. Q Magazine gave it four stars and a Q Recommends stamp. Blues Matters Magazine put Conil on the cover, calling him “one of the most original artists out there.” In the U.S., “Years Between” climbed to number three on the Alternative Radio Chart.

Raised in England on the Rolling Stones, the Velvet Underground, and Tom Waits, Conil later lived in some of the world’s most musically charged cities - New Orleans, New York, Chicago, Austin and Berlin - chasing sound wherever he went.

That began early. He travelled far, met the Dalai Lama, climbed Kilimanjaro, and crossed the Himalayas - experiences that shaped his perspective and his music.

He is now finishing his long-awaited second album - recorded in New Orleans, Chicago, London and Greece - with Danny Thompson, Tchad Blake and more.

Hello. I love different kind of music and try no to stay in a comfortable style. In a song my priorities go to melody and harmony but what counts in the end is the emotional impact of the song. I do everything by myself with my DAW and i am therefore also interested by tips in mixing or on composition. I'd be glad to share advises and receive feedback and comments. Wish you all the joy and pleasure that only music can bring. 

Those who inspired me and who always have a special place in my mind for their whole creation and their wonderful melodies : Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush. I tried some covers to remember some of their songs.

I must say that i am a bit disapointed by GenAI nowadays applied to artistic creation. I think there is already too many sounds on soundcloud that was one of the last place for 'real' artists, i mean human. This is so easy and quick to release something that it will soon overwhelm and discourage all newcomers and I really hate to be cheated by an AI when i listen to a voice. When i was young the promese about robots was to make them do what was painfull and what we dislike (hard and dangerous physical work), but never art ! And now we will soon have machine to have fun and we will keep the hard work

This is the principal soundcloud channel for original one-man music by gd&themultitracks.  Mainly instrumental, the music was home-recorded in stroud, england using hardware synths & instruments and Audacity community software for editing and mixing the individual multitracks.  I've had great enjoyment in making (& listening to!) the music, but any plays or feedback would be much appreciated.
