Greetings all,

I'm starting this profile so I can share with you in a more serious way my work as a saxophone player and electronics musician. Here I will improvise, play repertoire pieces and record other people that are playing with my very own Max/Msp patchs (with me manipulating the electronic part). 

Hope you all enjoy and feel free to comment and share my work.

Biography:

Started learning music in 2001 in the Sociedade Filarmónica Vestiariense.
In order to seek more knowledge and continue his musical training he went to Academia de Música de Alcobaça in 2003 to learn saxophone with Professor Mário Marques. In 2010 he finished the 8th grade and entered Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (ESML), in the class of Professor José Massarrão, where he graduated in 2013 and finished the Masters in Musical Education im 2017.

As undergraduate and graduate he played for ESML in festivals like “Peças Frescas” (premiere of pieces from young composers in São Luiz Nacional Theater), Festival da ESML, Semana da Composição da ESML, Dia da Música na ESML and Festival Música Viva, in O’culto da Ajuda; he premiered several pieces from students and former students of the degree in composition between them José Martins and Tomás Borralho; recorded the CD “Skies” para a Moolenar Editions, with the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa Wind Orchestra; also produced recitals for solo instrument, saxophone and percussion and saxophone and piano. Was part of the ESML Jazz Orchestra in 2011 and 2015. 

As a soloist he performed with the Camerata de Sopros Silva Dionísio (ensemble from Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa) and with the Orquestra Sinfónica da Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.

As a music professional he played with Cottas Club Jazz Band, with the Big Band of the Conservatório Nacional and with REUNION Big Jazz Band in concerts inside and outside Portugal. He collaborated with the Companhia Nacional de Bailado in the premiere of “Dance Bailarina, Dance”, with WESO (West European Symphonic Orchestra) in a project with “Orelha Negra” in the music festival MEO Sudoeste in Zambujeira do Mar e was the saxophone player of the musical theater “A República das Bananas”, of Filipe Lá Féria, in scene in Teatro Politeama in 2015/2016. 

He explores other languages besides classical music and jazz like rock, funk, pop and progressive rock.
He’s a member of the band “Memory Card”, a project that mixes video game music with pop, bossa and rock. “Memory Card” performed in important gaming festival like “Game On”, Meo XL Party in Braga and XL Party in FIL (Lisboa). They also played in Fnac in Colombo. In 2015 he recorded a cd with the band “Ambar” and in 2016 played in the cd presentation concerts in Sabotage (Cais do Sodré) and Cartaxo Cultural Center.

He was distiguished in several saxophone competitions, FISP 2005 – 2nd place, FISP 2007 – 3th place e FISP 2009 – 3th place e 2nd place in “International Music Competition” in Chieri, Italy, where he played as soloist with the “Orchestra Sinfonieta” de Chieri, Italy.

He frequented masterclasses with national and international teacher like Rita Nunes, Francisco Ferreira, Claude Delangle, Mário Marzi, Jean Yves Fourmeau, Henk van Twillert, Nicolas Proust, Lars Mlekusch e James Houlik.
He participated in improvisation workshops and Sound Painting with the Masters François Choiselat (vibraphone, improvisation, Lisbon Soundpainting Orchestra) and Javier Liébana Castillo.
He frequented several jazz workshops with artists like Paulo Gaspar, Jeffery Davis and Hugo Trindade.
He worked with important conducters like Francisco Ferreira, Steven Davis, Alberto Roque e Jean Sébastien Béreau.
In 2014 he was a volunteer in the Saxophone Festival “SAX14”, in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Philippe is a founding member of Forma Perdida (world music) along with Ana Albino and he's developing a experimental music project called ROOM#315.

"Portuguese electronic music producer, sound designer, musician and DJ, also known as Jorge Cunha Machado. Characterized by an evident appropriation of cinematographic language, it sways from dystopian, gloomy narratives connected to a urban imaginary related to trip hop, dub and bass music, to light, luminous spatiality associated with nu jazz and house. It is a living, mutant, kinesthetic organism, one of stories, metamorphosis and events. An organism of strong contrasts, layers and juxtapositions in which sound is almost visual". 

Biography: "Driven by the interest in melding music and other arts (performing arts, visual arts, amongst others), he soon found out that this interest had turned to an academic and professional career. Involved, as a musician, in multidisciplinary projects, he composes for theatre, dance, cinema, video-art, performance and children’s storytelling. He also cooperates as a percussionist with several musical projects, producers and authors. Amongst other groups, his participation in OCO, ATMA, UDJAT Ensemble, Cachupa Psicadélica, stand out. He is currently involved in three musical projects, two alter egos, MY NOISY TWINS and REFOGADO, and is part of the world fusion band OCO".

Ni! is a composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Portugal.
Working with bass clarinet, saxophones, trumpet, kalimba, keys, and electronics, he builds immersive, emotionally charged soundscapes.

Combining woodwinds instruments with live looping and effects, Ni! explores themes of beauty, tension, sensuality, and solitude.
His music moves between improvisation and structure, always rooted in deep listening and a cinematic approach to sound.
