"someone stole my hard drive on Halloween. I was crushed. some of these songs are from that stolen hard drive. these are very personal songs on there that I had made in my bedroom the midst of some rough times. at one point in my career earlier this year I was caught up in the accolades or what peoples opinions or perspective of me was to the point it started to reflect in the music. I wasnt making music from my purest of heart but was making music to appease others and chasing whatever people’s deemed as a hit. granted a lot of those songs never came out in the midst of that I had a awakening moment that made me realize that I was going down the wrong direction. In order to get back to myself, I made these songs you’ll hear. In these songs I’m getting back to that lil boy who use to record in his room without judgement or expectations, recording just for the freedom of my thoughts, and expression..as if nobody is listening."

Coco Elane (they/she) & Lucid Liebe (she/her) share their new joint single ‘Safe Space’, blending queer, spaced-out R&B with elements of jazz and a touch of kitsch. Lucy aka Lucid Liebe, a Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist, producer and member of jazz trio Bokoya, crafted evocative, dynamic arrangements around Coco’s haunting vocals and viola recordings. Together, they create genre-fluid, soulful soundscapes that feel raw, intimate, and transformative. 

Coco describes the track as a reflection on instant chemistry and the tension between desire and hesitation. "It’s about feeling an undeniable connection but holding back be-cause of insecurity or uncertainty," they explain.

For Lucid, the song’s creation was a journey of persistence. "By version six, Coco thought it was done, but I wasn't convinced," she shares. "I replaced the digital drums with live recordings and kept refining until version thirteen—that's when it finally clicked." 

Their EP ‘Wander With Me’ drops Thursday March 27th.

Bern-based artist Coco Elane has put out a joint EP with Leipzig producer upper class and released various singles for urbanundergrounds and Hutzpah Records. Her debut album is set to come out in late 2025.
Lucy Liebe has released three albums with Bokoya for MPM and a solo project titled Looong Epeee. As part of douniah’s live band, she has performed extensively across Germany and the UK.

“For me, this song is about the desire for emotional connection and uncertainty, that comes with it,” Coco shares. “It's also a question, whether it is all just a dream. It re-flects a mix of hope, vulnerability and uncertainty in love.”
