Consistently my most listened to if not top-5 artist in my yearly Spotify Wrapped, Wun Two’s music has long been a favourite of mine. As one of the modern OGs to transition from the blog to the full on streaming era and still see success it’s been amazing to watch him grow from strength to strength and it’s only right I did a mix in tribute. Featuring 88 of my all time faves from the German producer across his discography with two extras that had to fit in, this the first of many volumes to come.

Stay Cool #082: 100% Wun Two Mix (lo-fi hip-hop)

Soaring further forth into the stratosphere of contemporary Brazilian jazz-funk, Caixa Cubo's newest single "Jureta" gives us another glimpse into the mystical realm of their new album "Modo Avião" (Airplane Mode).

On “Jureta” Caixa Cubo’s infectious joy of playing acts as a kind of jazz ‘gamification’. A dreamy 90’s video game-esque world, in which João Donato and Azymuth watch on approvingly from the grand castle of Brazilian groove. 

Born from over 14 years of musical camaraderie, “Jureta” features the Fender Rhodes and synth wizardry of Henrique Gomide, Noa Stroeter’s swinging Brazilian bass magic and João Fideles’ intricate drum and percussion mastery.

Modo Avião, featuring "Jureta," releases on 15th November, 2024, via Far Out Recordings. Available on vinyl LP, CD, and digital platforms.
This November Caixa Cubo embark on a European tour, with performances in the UK, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands and France.

Q: LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR MIX FOR OUTDOOR TAPES. HOW DID YOU DECIDE ON THE TRACK SELECTION AND WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE PERFECT SETTING FOR THIS MIX?

I wanted to focus on the idea of discovery; nothing is more magical than finding a forest clearing or hiking to the top of a hill and enjoying a wonderful view. It’s in these moments, when nature reveals its hidden beauty, that we feel the joy of exploration and a sense of connection with the world around us.

Q: IN YOUR YEARS OF DJING AND EVENTS, WHICH PLACES AND EXPERIENCES REALLY STAND OUT FOR YOU?

A few experiences really stand out. One would be Elsewhere in NYC the energy of the crowd was just electric and the sound system was incredible, it felt like a shared journey between the audience and me.
