Last month LESKY teamed up with beat producer Mensing and New Jersey-based songstress Tally Schwenk for “Relief”. These days the international beat jet set mingles mostly on Zoom. No more boiler rooms, pool parties or rooftop BBQ‘s. Luckily this doesn’t affect the creative process of LESKY. “Palma” is the third single from his forthcoming album “Meraki”. LESKY, who recently relocated to Tbilisi in Georgia, is joined by Cologne (beat) boy wonder Midan.

Welcome to “Alicante”! We are not talking about the beautiful Spanish harbor city on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea but the first joint single by German Lo-Fi heavyweight LESKY and UK guitarist Waywell for Melting Pot Music. 

The two met in Tbilisi, Georgia where they shared a studio space. LESKY’s chilled but crisp production and Waywell’s dreamy guitar riffs were a perfect match from scratch! After a few weeks of long night-time sessions, they had crafted a new hybrid sound that we call Lo-Fi yacht pop. A wavy mix of Lo-Fi and cosmic with a subliminal yacht rock vibe. You don't have to take it too seriously, but it is the perfect soundtrack for imaginary beach cruises and pool parties alike.

Bokoya is a four-piece jazz/hip-hop band from Cologne who plays improvised beat music. Like a four-headed human drum machine, Bokoya improvise, shape, and develop beats in the electric field of repetition and variation. It's impossible to put a tag on Bokoya's music. BADBADNOTGOOD, Dilla, Krautrock, Ambient and dub might work as rough reference points for the music but don't do it justice. After a sling of releases on Wadada Records, Bokoya are now signed to Melting Pot Music where they will release their new album ‘Hausensession’ in October. The double single ‘Swampland / Cava’ is their second taster.

The crowd of onlookers watched on eagerly expecting the best but fearing the worst. Funk wasn't dead but it smelt funny as hell down here in the damp cellar of the old town dive bar. A dim red light hung flickering above the black door and the wooden floors creaked beneath every tap of a foot. How the hell where you supposed to dance in here?

Ladies and gentlemen may we present Sidenote - The Jazz Jousters dig 1969. This is simply a little project which is in similar fashion to our earlier tribute albums from our first three seasons. However, in this case the Jazz Jousters were each challenged to get digging in the crates and work with Jazz music from the year 1969 and come up with something in their own style.
