The Gottwood Mix Series returns... and to kick things off we have a very special live recording of Move D's secret disco set recorded on the Studio 89 Stage this year. It is always a pleasure to have Mr D play for us, and this year his Saturday afternoon disco selections were absolutely sublime.

Gottwood Mix #001 - Move D (Disco Set Live From Gottwood)

Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho make up Acid Arab, the Parisian-based duo who combine a love for acid house with the sounds and cultures of the Middle East. It's a fusion that runs deeper than just uniting a western beat with an eastern sample; they blend Arabic musical language and analogue techno devices, to create a unique form of dance music.

Starting life as a concept, Acid Arab morphed from a Facebook group to a party and now releases records and compilations that pays homage to their unique amalgamation of sounds and textures. Following a series of compilations and V/A EPs on Versatile Records, Guido and Hervé return to the label with their first solo EP titled Djazirat El Maghreb. A tribute to North African music, the three-track release looks to three countries in the region and with 'Halfa (Instrumental)', the focus falls on Algeria. The track also features Algerian keyboard artist Kenzi Bourras, who plays live with Acid Arib and comes packed with an alaoui beat, traditional to a lot of old chaabi songs and familiar to any new fans of Omar Souleyman.

Decided to release this mix I've had in my archives for a while. Was never fully happy with it, but alas it's a new year so I'm letting it go.

As the title suggests this mix is a collection of funky, soulful and cinematic songs making good use of string arrangements.

Rotten Jollof (A West African Funk Mix)

Collecting and djing since his early teens, Mr. Hagan has played at shows, club events and instore appearances alongside Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Jazzy Jeff, Raekwon, Mad Skillz, BEP, Little Brother, Omar, Foreign Exchange, Mos Def, El-P, Murs, Cody Chestnut and many more.

In 2003 Mr. Hagan began interning at BBE records, eventually working fulltime for the label. As an assistant A&R, amongst other roles, he played a vital part in the release of Jay Dee AKA J-Dilla's 'Welcome 2 Detroit Instrumentals' and 'The Art Of OneMind’ by Symbolyc One (S1) & Illmind. He also contributed heavily to the release of Hip-Hop Forever 3 - Mixed by DJ Jazzy Jeff.

Never a follower of trends, he prides himself on discovering new sounds and rocking the crowd with the unknown.
