Nickodemus is a traveler at heart—a connector of worlds, scenes, and people since the mid-90s. Over his extensive career as a touring DJ and producer, including 5 albums and canonical tunes like “My Swing es Tropical” and “Cleopatra in New York”, he’s helped pave the way for an inimitable mix of global fusion and the heavy beats we yearn for in the club. His music has long thrived on the close relationships and mutual respect of friends he’s built across the continents, felt through the worldly potions he cooks up in the studio, and spanning electronic sounds rooted in Latin, African, and Eastern instrumentation. His latest album, A Long Engagement, serves as a culmination of the inspirations he’s absorbed and remains rooted in his life as native New Yorker and the city’s nostalgic energy. 

Nickodemus’ sound is often focused on the connective tissue of his many live collaborations and the electronic solitude of his studio (or record-filled bubble, as he calls it). Through his much-loved label Wonderwheel Recordings, he’s not only regularly releasing some of the most soul-shaking, eclectic sounds in the biz, but focusing deeply on artist development and creating long-lasting moments that live on far longer than their track length. The music you hear in his releases are filled with expression, reflection, and care; they’re both open-minded and deeply focused, a rarity at time in today’s overcrowded music industry. 

As a remixer, he’s also lent his “Remix Machine” to a wide range of artists including pioneers like Bob Marley and Nina Simone, as well as other like minded genre-welders like Thievery Corporation, Quantic, and Mr. Scruff. Throughout his career he’s also carved an important niche in the live music scene with his beloved Turntables on the Hudson parties, that have popped up everywhere from New York to Cairo.  
 
Currently on tour around Europe & USA, his latest album "Soul and Science" is another portrait into the importance of shared ideas and the dialogue artists can share when they look past language or place of birth. It’s another bass-heavy global party and we’re all invited.

BIOGRAPHY

D-Rakkas spent his youth as a charismatic, party-starting DJ (“Rakkas”
is in fact a local West Indian slang term for “rockers” music that he  used to print on his DJ flyers to indicate his parties’ music policy).  The concept for South Rakkas Crew first hatched, though, when he moved to his current home base in Orlando, Florida to manage Riprock n Alex G Ent., a company that, at the time, was a crucial part of ‘N Sync’s production team.  There, D-Rakkas conceptualized SRC to satisfy his creative need to fuse his love for electronic music with Jamaican culture.  D-Rakkas’ first album, “Clappas,” quickly proved a major island and European smash, earing SRC the moniker “The founders of Electro-Dancehall.”  Jamaican and non-Jamaican audiences alike quickly grew to appreciate SRC’s talent for fusing hook-laden song structure with sound-system destroying beats.

XLR8R recently praised South Rakkas for their “boundary-pushing” powers: indeed, these futuristic rhythm killers can’t be held down to any one sound or style.  SRC can flex from Beenie Man and Bounty Killer one moment, T-Pain the next and then on to the likes of M.I.A., Lily Allen, Beck, Duran Duran, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and Shakira – all of whom have been touched by South Rakkas’ edgy studio savvy.  It is this same approach that has made international DJ D-Rakkas such a sought after talent for clubs and festivals all over the planet.  He intelligently uses a mass of influences in his unique brand of Electro dance music production and seamlessly drops it in his sets:  Electro, Dancehall, House, Moombahton, Trap, Dubstep, old school Hip Hop, Reggae, etc., etc.

When beat king Diplo put out South Rakkas’ Mad Again and The Mix Up EP on his Mad Decent label, the blogosphere proved unanimous in its praise: Prefix raved about Mix Up’s “production perfection.”  The Washington Post gave it an extremely rare A+ rating, while Thom Yorke was dropping the Boy 8-Bit mix of “Mad Again” during his guest deejaying on Gilles Peterson’s BBC radio show.  Trip-hop titan Tricky chose SRC to remix his entire West Knowles Boy album, garnering rapturous press.

	Known for their genre-defying mix tapes and 4-turntable performances, DJs Wood ‘n’ Soo have proven time and again their ability to rock just about any crowd that’s put before them. Since joining forces in 2004 they have attained a world wide cult following and supported such diverse international talent as DJ Z-Trip, Bassnectar, Afrika Bambaataa, Q-Bert, DJ NuMark, Stanton Warriors, Shy FX, Zion I, South Rakkas Crew and many more. On the strength of their rapid fire blending and on-the-fly remixing, they have rocked clubs across the country and become mainstays of Vancouver’s night life scene. 
	Wood ‘n’ Soo are seasoned crate diggers, raised in the age of vinyl LPs and 12” singles. The onset of the digital era has done nothing to diminish their hunger for fresh new sounds. While rocking the party remains first priority, the duo refuse to be pigeon-holed into any particular genre or style of DJing. Hip hop, Funk, Disco & Reggae form the roots of their diverse sound, while their sets branch out to include an array of styles from past to present. One of the most interesting up and coming producers now is the Czech native operating in Peru under Chong-X.

Chong-X has started with his own music production in the early days of 1996 in ragga - jungle style. (<a href="http://soundcloud.com/chongx" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">chongx</a> ) That led him in 2000 to now nonexistent Aphrikka sound system, where he became regular performer, most often in tandem with DJ Mad4ce. His production on the Czech scene gained fame mainly through his novel remixes, many riddims and by the original dubstep or variations of classical Jamaican standards.

In 2005, the Aphrikka sound system transformed into Roots 'n' Future collective, with which Chong-X continued his successful live performances. A few years ago, his interested began moving towards the Tropical, Global Bass and just recently to Moombahton, integrating both into its production, and into his DJ set.

In 2010, along with his equally talented fellow producer http://soundcloud.com/don-pedropoulos based digital label, Lamat Records, which focuses on the fusion of local traditional genre with the current sound of European dance floors - Global Bass, Tropical, Moombahton. The first feat of the label appeared in the April 2011 split E.P. titled "Hulk Attack" on two tracks from both producers.
