For some it might be Kraftwerk, but for me, my favourite electronic pioneers are probably Australia's Severed Heads. They were so far ahead of the game that they had to invent a lot of the technology they used. Inspired, playful, never boring and always sonically brilliant they pushed at the frontiers of electronic music more than most. By the late 80s they were pursuing a slightly more polished course and made a series of records that had the potential to reach a much larger audience. Possibly because of their name they never quite managed that, but they had several big club hits; the dub versions of which crossed over into the nascent house scene. I am honoured that I am able to make the dubs of those three 12"s from 1988 - 1990 available again. 

On side A is “Greater Reward (Dub)” which has possibly thee most beautiful piano in the history of dance music. Often sampled but never equalled, it still brings joy to dancefloors 27 years after it was released. Severed Heads original production and mastering was so ahead of the game that it needed only the slightest re-master.  The original, while perfect in every way was always tricky to dj with as THAT piano was right at the start so if it was mixed in, it wouldn't get heard until much later in the track. I've slightly rearranged it for dj use but haven't added anything whatsoever. Side A also includes the majestic original.

On the AA side. “Big Car (Crash Dub)” is a masterclass in how to make a track that chugs that is tedium free. At the time it had possibly the heaviest kick drum I'd ever heard and was akin to a mutant cousin of one of David Morales legendary Red Zone house dubs. “All Saints Day (Saints Day Dub)” rounds off the EP with future looking sound design, hypno bass and trademark Severed Heads edit magic.

Here's my DJ set from my debut gig at Concrete in Paris on Friday 26th September 2015, which they kindly recorded for me to share with you all. Such lovely people.
I played for the first 3 hours & 40 minutes & Josh Wink played the second 3 hours. As I was opening up the floor, I started with a couple of disco tracks, then 80s deep house until the room was ready for me to pull down their trouser & spank their bottoms. 
It was so much fun & I can't wait to go back to play for them again. Amazing club, wonderful crowd & great hospitality.

Arkaik - Big Data

This was my first set at the Brooklyn Mirage for Morgana last month & what a great night it was. Thursday night, out on a packed terrace & the crowd were up for whatever I wanted to play them. I played brand new stuff, stuff you the last few years & ended on some classics. Sadly the first 40 minutes of this set is missing but that still left 1 hour & 50 minutes of goodness, which I share to you now. I hope you enjoy.

This is the 2nd part of my 9 hour set at Superfreq's 17th Anniversary at the Proton warehouse in Dallas TX on March 9 2019. Part 1 was 4 hours Upfront Dance-floor action. Part 2 is from 7:30am when the sun started rising so I went retro, starting with some Acid House & then swiftly into New York Garage & Deep House. After that I went into Disco, then Funk, Rap, Soul & finished up by playing some of my favourite Ska. We wrapped up the party at lunch time. What a night & morning that was. Simply magical. Gabriel & Dresden Radio 1 Essential Mix May 7th 2006

Mr.C started MCing in London clubs aged 16 working with LWR radio's Ron Tom, Jasper the Vinyl Junkie & Jazzy M. Mr.C then hooked up with Colin Faver & Evil Eddie Richards to became resident rapper at the legendary Camden Palace in London. Mr.C went into the studio to record his 1st house track with Eddie Richards as Myster-E which was released in August 1987. This inspired Mr.C to become a DJ so in September 87 he took to the decks. 
Mr.C has since organised, promoted & been resident DJ at: Fantasy ('88), Base (Dungeons '89), Release (91), Harmony (92), Drop (93), Cyclone (94), Vapourspace (94 & 95), Flavour (The End 95 & 96), Subterrain (The End 95 - 2002), Superfreq (Worldwide 2002 - Present), Super Disco Freq (LA 2010 - present), Next Step Forward Festival (Sept 2018). 
Mr.C was resident DJ every weekend (Friday & Saturday nights) at the legendary RIP parties at Clink Street in London throughout 1988.
Mr.C hosted weekly radio show Future Music on Kiss 100FM in London from 1993-2002 & has presented TV shows for MTV, FH1, VIVA & BBC. To say that Mr.C is one of the most iconic DJs in the world would be an understatement.
In December 1995 Mr.C opened the legendary nightclub The End in London & then AKA bar 3 years later & was lauded as one of the best night clubs in the world. The End & AKA closed its doors for good on January 24th 2009. 1 Chapter closes & another begins. Since the closure of The End Mr.C has been running his Superfreq events globally & is just about to host his brand new London festival, Next Step Forward Festival. 
Mr.C runs & promotes Superfreq events, which celebrated being 16 years old in March 2018 & ran monthly at Mr.C's club The End until it closed down in January 2009. Superfreq functions bi-monthly in London & does regular events in Los Angeles as well as bi-monthly events in Calais France & one off events the world over.
Mr.C is founder & owner of Plink Plonk records, co-founder of End Recordings & founder & co-owner of the Superfreq label, which is now releasing music prolifically.
Mr.C has recorded under the names, Myster-E, Unity 2, Nu Jacks, Bass Bureau, The Shamen, Mantrac, Somnambulist, Animus Amour, Killer Loop, Mr.C & Tom Parris, Mr.C & 16B, Sycophant Slags, Indigo Kidz & East LA Tek.
Mr.C is best known as front man, songwriter & producer of the pop group The Shamen with whom he notched up a string of top 10 hits including Move Any Mountain, Love Sex Intelligence, Boss Drum, Phorever People & the UK number 1 smash hit Ebeneezer Goode. These hits were hits the world over. The Shamen album Boss Drum went double platinum in the UK & they also won a highly coveted Ivor Novelo for Songwriters of the year UK in 1993. Richard's currently recording solo as Mr.C & is also doing collaborations as the Indigo Kidz with Affie Yusuf & with Noel Jackson as East LA Tek.
His latest album was released last year called Incidents, which is arguably his best work to date along with singles Stand Up, Shape Your Dreams & Ripple Effect all being taken from the album.
