I've been contemplating why I prefer songs in major keys when sometimes things feel so heavy and sad to me. I've come to realize that I want to create music that transports me -and my listeners- to a fantasy world that can be an escape for us all. A place where the grass is green and the sunshines. Sometimes there's quirky 8-Bit and 16-Bit beeps and boops and other times there are pianos and strings... and sometimes there are full blown rock bands! Today, I found out that my grandpa passed away. As I was on a walk, I saw an older couple sitting on their back patio. The man looked like he was taking a break from mowing the lawn and the woman was just happy to be hanging out with him during his break. They were having iced tea or something. This reminded me so much of how my grandma and grandpa both spent their time together. They had lawn chairs that they'd often put side by side on their driveway and just say "hello" to passersby. My grandpa had a stash of dog treats that he kept for a stretch of time and made friends with the neighborhood canines as well. Anyways, that couple that I saw on my walk reminded me of earlier years when both my grandparents were in better health. My grandpa always enjoyed spending time in his garden and taking care of the yard -and a very impressive garden and yard they had! So, I guess tonite's composition is an orchestral instrumental piece called "Sunshine in the Garden". Thanks for all the good times, Gpa!
