Founded in early 1998, the goal was to consistently put out records that would be loved and played by many in the house music community. Viva Recordings found success with its first debut from Johnny Fiasco and the with Rick Preston's Altruism EP, which gained notoriety when "Spring Fling" was featured on Mark Farina's San Francisco Sessions Vol.1. From these early releases the road was paved for Viva Recordings' success. Over the last few years we have been working on personal projects but now have decided to bring the label back and take the Viva name back. VIVA LA UNDERGROUND

Emily Song is a seasoned DJ who embarked on her musical journey in 1997.  She initially found her groove by spinning vinyl at underground warehouse parties across the Pacific Northwest. As her talent and popularity grew, she transitioned to performing at club venues, where she teamed up with two other female DJs to form the trio known as the Vixens Of Vinyl.  The Vixens quickly gained a reputation for their electrifying 3x6 and tag team sets, and were also known for their long running residency at Aristocrats.  After nearly a decade of thriving as a DJ, Emily made the tough decision to shift her focus to her family and pursue a teaching career. Despite her hiatus from the stage, her passion for music never waned. After almost two decades away, she recently made a triumphant return with an all vinyl set, and since then hasn't looked back.  Emily now holds a residency with Viva Recordings, a long running house label in Seattle.  Her carefully curated soulful house music is heavily influenced by jazz, disco, funk, soul, and R&B, and she has also been known to sprinkle her sets with some afro house and UK garage.

David Harness is one of the most popular DJ/producers in the San Francisco Bay Area club scene. He has been described as ‘a man who lives, breathes and emanates everything that is beautiful about deep house music and classic garage.’ David is considered a ‘rising star’ within the dance community.’ With influences varying from Barry White and the Love Unlimited Orchestra, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, Quincy Jones, the Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder, Parliament Funkadelic, the Isley Brothers and First Choice, among others it's easy to see why funk and soul have always been strong elements in his sound. In 1990, David began DJ’ing at the After Dark in his hometown of Monterey, California. As his popularity grew past the boundaries of Monterey, he was invited to establish a residency at Tilt and the Sound Factory in San Francisco. 

1994, David opened and DJ’ed at the popular club Lift at Club Dv8 (today known as Temple) in San Francisco. His success as a club DJ led to a DJ spot on commercial radio.  David joined the popular radio show Your Mama’s House on the San Francisco Bay Area’s number one radio station 106KMEL FM. Your Mama’s House was the only ‘true’ house mix show on any major radio station in Northern California. As part of the Your Mama’s House crew, David played a key role in exposing the masses to House Music in the San Francisco Bay Area till 1999. 

1995 David kicked off a seven year residency at San Francisco ‘s legendary Club Universe — San Francisco’s hottest Saturday night party. At Club Universe, David had the opportunity to play with many legendary DJs like Frankie Knuckles, Tony Humphries, Little Louie Vega, Tedd Patterson, Dave Morales, Danny Teneglia, London’s Simon Dunmore & Aaron Ross, Los Angeles’ Marques Wyatt, San Francisco’s Miguel Migs, Mark Farina and Kaskade, Quentin Harris, Dennis Ferrer, DJ Spen, Timmy Regisford, Doc Martin, Osunlade, Danny Krivit, Joe Clausell, Derrick Carter Mr. V, Kenny Dope, DJ Spinna— just to name a few. His growing popularity accelerated David’s natural progression into production.  In 1998, he released a CD for Universe Sounds and Twisted America, ‘Welcome to the Universe’. This innovative CD, recorded live from Club Universe, reflects San Francisco’s unique ‘sound’ and introduced the world to David Harness. Recognizing his talent, Twisted America quickly signed him to produce his first single, ‘Get It Together’, for a Twisted America compilation entitled ‘A Little Bit of the Old, A Lot of the New’.  In 1999, David started Taboo in San Francisco’s Mission District. Taboo started out of David’s love of House music and his desire to provide a showcase for Bay Area talent as well as internationally known DJs. Now in Oakland, this ongoing monthly party attracts a loyal crowd of househeads from around the San Francisco Bay Area and the globe to the this blending of spirit and soul.

September 2000, David launched DHJ Productions and has established himself as a respected producer and remixer. To date, David has worked on projects featuring artists such as Mary J. Blige, Luther Vandross, Aretha Franklin, Simply Red, Alicia Keys, Floetry, Donnie McClurkin, India Arie, *NSYNC, and Donnell Jones, Ann Nesby, Anane, Barbara Tucker, Inaya Day, Shea Soul, Dawn Tallman, Heidi Vogel, Yoko Ono, Roland Clark as well as remixing for labels Defected, Kings Street, Vega Records, Foliage, Quantize Recordings, Making Moves, Tribe Records, Look At You, Yellorange/Tony Records, Chez, Slaag, Bargrooves.  He is a partner in the Moulton Music label and divides his production time between his solo work and co-productions with Harlum Muziq (co-productions with Chris Lum).  David is also affiliated with Loveslap Recordings label releasing 2 cd's Loveslapped Vol2, & Heartbeat, as well as original production and remixes for the label. David Has performed at Coachella, Southport Weekender, Outside Lands, Pride Festival (SF-1995-2011, Oakland-2011/2012), Nextaid Benefit, Macy's Passport, and countless clubs and event around the globe.  




Kizuna Four is a Producer and DJ collective formed at Burning Man 2024 under the iconic sunrise on the deep playa. 
Kizuna means bonding human connections in Japanese, it's a heart to heart connection interwoven by music.

Joe Pea is an electronic music DJ and producer hailing from The Pacific Northwest, USA. His musical journey began with a childhood passion for percussion, leading him to play drums in various bands across the Western United States. In 1999, a transformative experience in the Arizona Desert, turned him onto electronic music and culture, prompting him to transition from live bands to DJing and vinyl collecting. 

Over the past two decades, Joe has become a prominent figure in the West Coast underground dance scene, performing at renowned festivals such as Burning Man, Lightning in a Bottle, Dirtybird Campout, Desert Hearts, and Oregon Eclipse Festival. He has shared the stage with notable artists including Claude VonStroke, Nick Fanciulli, Pig&Dan, Doc Martin, and many more. 

Although Joe has fully moved to the Pacific Northwest, he is still a resident DJ at Dance Klassique, San Diego’s longest-running house music weekly. A pillar in the Southern California dance community for over 25 years.

Beyond his performances, Joe is a passionate advocate for the dance floor as a sacred space for community and connection.

Additionally, you can find him dancing and working at music events and festivals all over the U.S., as he is a very strong supporter of the concept of music, fostering community and the dance floor as a sacred space to come together as one.

Detroit native, Rimarkable, is a DJ, vocalist, songwriter, and producer. She has she’s lit up the stage with world stars such as George Clinton, Madonna, and Erykah Badu, as well as legendary DJ colleagues Louie Vega, Honey Dijon, Todd Edwards, Francois K, Pete Tong, and Roger Sanchez. Rimarkable is known for her unwavering knowledge of where electronic music comes from and where it is going. 

Alongside her multi-hyphenate musicianship, Rimarkable is also an Adjunct Professor at NYU-Tisch in the Clive Davis Institute where she teaches the younger minds about ’The Alchemy Of DJing’. Quite literally a party starter, she’s produced several successful, long-running events in New York, Detroit, and the Bay Area over the past 20+ years. In early 2021, Rimarkable signed with UK house music institution Defected, including the Defected Music publishing arm, and stepped up as a presenter for the weekly Defected Radio show. Rimarkable currently spends her time between Detroit and NYC.
