Techno Sets Juni 2020

One month I can't remember, on a day I remember even less, I took another heroic dose in my room, 6 dried grams of McKenna. Half an hour before everything began, I queued up the usual, Koyaanisqatsi, Samsara, and Baraka. I had watched these documentary films before on LSD, but never on mushrooms.

I began the journey just observing. The entire time, I kept wondering whether what I was seeing was truly authentic or staged. I analyzed the clothing, were these actors in wardrobe or just regular people, simply living? And I understood then, what I was seeing was real.

During the trip, a powerful thought took over, overpopulation. It hit me hard. Understanding it was overwhelming. And in the days that followed, I explored the idea online, only to discover that there are even movements that promote suicide (sometimes collective) as a solution. That realization left me frozen.

This EP is not about promoting suicide, absolutely not. It's about letting those intense thoughts from that night flow freely. It took 15 days of production and months of mastering, but the final result makes me happy. Each track tells the story I lived that night, inside my head.

I thank God for life,
but I continue to analyze it.

Un mes que no recuerdo, en un día que recuerdo aún menos, tomé otra dosis heroica en mi cuarto, 6 gramos secos de McKenna. Media hora antes de que todo comenzara, puse la rutina habitual: Koyaanisqatsi, Samsara y Baraka. Había visto estos documentales antes bajo LSD, pero nunca con hongos.

Empecé el viaje simplemente observando. Todo el tiempo me preguntaba si lo que veía era realmente auténtico o estaba preparado. Analizaba la ropa, ¿eran actores con vestuario o simplemente gente común, viviendo su vida? Y entendí entonces que lo que veía era real.

Durante el viaje, un pensamiento poderoso me dominó: la sobrepoblación. Me impactó mucho. Entenderlo fue abrumador. Y en los días siguientes exploré la idea en internet, solo para descubrir que existen movimientos que promueven el suicidio (a veces colectivo) como solución. Esa realización me dejó paralizado.

Este EP no es para promover el suicidio, de ninguna manera. Es para dejar fluir libremente esas intensas ideas de esa noche. Me tomó 15 días de producción y meses de masterización, pero el resultado final me hace feliz. Cada track cuenta la historia que viví esa noche, dentro de mi cabeza.

pero sigo analizándola.

Jokasti & Nek are a duo from Greece that love raw, distorted, hypnotic and experimental sounds.

Fascinated by all kinds of synthesis and focusing on the live performance aspect, of techno music as well as DJing.
Have performed live sets in seminal clubs, including Tresor Berlin, Suicide Circus, Athens Megaron, but also performed downtempo experimental live set that flows seamlessly into techno at Ozora’s Dome stage.

Their debut release was the double 12”, “Alex drove us home” on MORD Records (MORD040), in 2017 which sold out. They also have released their music via KR/LF, Prodigal Son, Green Fetish, Revolt or Mindcut.

Yossef Chahid Diez, known as 'The Slaughter', hails Logroño, Spain. He began his passion for music at a very young age playing at clubs and organizing raves as well as events to push the scene in the north of Spain. Leaving for London in 2017 in search of knowledge and musical experience, he played his first gig there only a few months after arriving in the city, and has since played in London clubs Corsica Studios and Grow Tottenham.
In 2019 he joined by Melissa D Lima to create the Distortion Podcast series, a project which is still developing. The Slaughters main focus is on pounding industrial and rave music styles. His influences include artists such as Hypnoskull, Krtm, Manu Le Malin, Ophidian, Strange Arrival and Marc Arcadipane.
