One of the most important labels of the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene, Toulouse-based Esthétique, reaches its 28th release. Doing the honours, Russian Chandeliers, a new project formed by Niko Rapsis (Fringe Society, Modern Ruin) and Julian Grefe (Pink Skull, Clean Plate). Originally hailing from Athens and Philadelphia, respectively, the skilled duo met in 2014 in Berlin where they both reside and share a studio space. Their collaborative project, sprung from a mutual love of all things unsavoury and unfun, saw its inaugural release on New York’s SAMO Records. For their follow-up on the French imprint, these two dapper lifers offer up an EP of paranoid, muscular analog grooves fit for filthy basements and dirty dance floors.

Their powerful and vibrant “Silos” EP delivers four stunning originals and four top-notch remixes made with love by Zillas On Acid, Tushen Raï (SXDNS038) & Warum, Steady State, and Celestino (SXDNS009), yours truly.

Premiered here, Zillas On Acid’s interpretation of “A Fine Day For A Drubbing”. Formed by Thomas Roland and James Weissinger, long-time residents at Philadelphia's never-ending nightlife institution Making Time. Their post-punk and dilettante techno sonority paired perfectly with Russian Chandeliers’ work. The result of the rendezvous delivered one of the most striking pieces of the release with the highlighting going for the groovy percussive layer, the throbbing bassline and, yes, of course, the acid lead. In it’s 5th release the label Fucanglong Files welcomes UK artist Radondo.

He delivers an ep that drives you into his dystopian world.

First with ‘Alone’ a slow but intense track, filled with dark synths that make you remember Blade Runner’s soundtrack. A dry and strong beat with a super heavy snare, driven by a catchy synth bass and an amazing choir lead.

‘Dusk’ goes into the italo realm. Bright synths and leads that tell a complete story throughout the track. Still inside Radondo’s dystopian world, you can feel a little light inside this one.

First remix comes by the hand of Mufti one the heads of Fucanglong Files. He takes ‘Alone’ into a more melacholic and club vibe while keeping a lot of the original.

Last but not least ‘Dusk’ gets the Curses treatment. His ‘Lucid Dawn’ mix is a fantastic cinematic journey that drives you through many different feelings during the track. From post punk guitars to huge new wave synths. Close your eyes and enjoy.

Expect to listen a lot of heavy snares, strong basslines, tons of synths…

Teniente Castillo returns to Roam Recordings with Two to Tango - an artfully crafted dark offering backed by a strong set of remixers that carry the integrity of the original into uniquely different areas. The original version from Play Pal Music label boss combines guitars and electronic sounds in a way that both sounds like a live band and an abstract excerpt from a conscious machine. Legendary New York artist Justin Strauss takes on the first remix adding a vocal that sounds like it was always meant to be underpinned by an exquisite liquid bassline. Thomass Jackson is up next with a beautifully quirky rendition that feels like an after party for which you want to be invited. Kaputt club resident Nuclear Digital Transistor rounds out the EP with a percussive version that brings out the guitars from the original in a new light and we gotta say if uniquely fitting basslines are your thing Nuclear Digital Transistor seals the deal on this four track EP.

The latter is an upcoming Italian producer who we highly recommend following.  In the last months Amarcord released a collaborative EP with Speaking Minds on Alex Niggemann's Aeon label, completed by a remix of the mighty Bawrut, and another EP on the Canadian label My Favorite Robot Records remixed by Man Power and Boot & Tax. Later in 2019 wenwill see his music featured on labels such as Jennifer Cardini's Correspondent.

On an already high-quality release, his track ‘trees’ really stood out to us and goes to show his many musical influences from Ambient, Krautrock, New Wave, Disco to Techno.

PREMIERE - Amarcord - Trees (OMBRA INTL)

The ever-different Night Noise welcomes Eliezer, a long time mastermind of the underground music scene in Tel Aviv for three fresh new cuts with Isadora that come with a Dan Wainwright remix. Eliezer has more than 20 years of experience behind the decks, in the studio, and as an authority in nightlife in Israel. 

As an active producer, he’s released on contemporary labels such as Days of Being Wild, Night Noise, Unterman, and Prins Thomas’ imprint Internasjonal under the alias Midnight Dicers and he also runs his own New Day Every Day imprint. Here he works with Isadora, a musician, songwriter and poet known as the lead singer of her eponymously entitled band. The tracks were made in the studio that was inside Eliezer’s club, and he says, “It’s been a long journey as two of them started as a sketch back in 2009 but together with Isadora they got the perfect touch and finish.” Arresting opener ‘Bright Light’ is a dazzling disco cut with shimmering chords and punchy kicks that make you march as Isadora adds fluid, soulful vocals. The excellent ‘Gold E Bella’ started as “a bizarre bass and atmosphere mix, and with the speech from Isadora it became a dance floor bomb.” It’s tense, full of twists and turns and dark disco energy. 

The heavier ‘Get Down’ has a real sense of menacing energy, with laser like synths, deadpan vocals and punk spirit. Last of all, Dan Wainwright’s X-Rated Remix of ‘Bright Light’ brings howling chords and jittery, dubbed out drums that reverberate with late night kinetics. Once again here Night Noise platform exciting talents with brilliantly inventive sounds.
