For the third installment of our podcast series, we welcome Australian-born Berlin-based dj, producer, and soundscape artist Sa Pa. With a name referencing northern Vietnam's high, foggy mountains, expect a live recorded podcast from our May party that resembles the northern parts of Vietnam: Hazy, clear and unclear, mystic, and at times pushing forward, finding directions, this podcast feels like a (musical) journey of ambient soundscapes, dub, and pitched down that leaves one to reach the higher spheres (of Vietnam).

Known for her hypnotic dives to the psychedelic reaches of deep techno, London-based @freyacaldwell signature style emphasises meticulous sound design and the incorporation of lush and evocative textures. 

Having graced the stages of renowned venues and festivals throughout Europe, she has appeared at prestigious locations such as Amsterdam's De School, the Positive Education Festival, and London's own Village Underground.

Faery's Patterns of Perception 118 circles around echoes, resonances and hauntings, shifting between shadowy low-ends and moments of ecstatic crescendo. Encapsulating the tension and drama held in dnb's darker edges, the mix also weaves in touches of eerie contemporary classical-esque ambient.

Vardae is a project with the ambition of breaking away from the genre barrier, to explore new sounds territory around the love of psychedelic music. His productions and performances result in a percussive and hypnotic sound, a combination of tribal rhythms, repetitive leads and atmospheric textures which navigates from dub to tribe, passing through techno and drum’n’bass. Vardae defends a universe where immersion and experience prevail over codes with the idea of offering a journey to each of its appearances.

Somewhere lurking under the last leaves on the ground, squirming and squelching with the mycelium and microorganisms, we find Timnahs sonic world tucked away in a sacred place. Taking inspiration from the natural world, she has solidified a name for herself as a purveyor of psychedelic rhythms and carefully curated cacophonies. As a resident at the renowned Elysia club in Basel, she has honed her skills further and expanded her sound into ambient and experimental territories. 

This edition of Unrush is a testament to Timnah's ear for the uncanny and sense for crafting a dynamic narrative. Solemn drones guide us like a soft breeze into the winter months, only interrupted by washes of organic textures and subtle electronics. With our 15th episode, we welcome another very talented artist to our Herbarium series. It is @alkini, the label head of the fabulous imprint @a-biotic. In his journey, he leads us through many different stages of consciousness, mixing intriguing beatless pieces with hypnotic rhyhthms.

Alkini chose the plant Lavender / Lavandula for this trip. Some words about it from his side:
'Various influences, various hues. 
I wanted to write something that resonates with myself using music that I admire.

Its color being my favorite and its scent never leaving me indifferent, lavender is the plant that brings back the most memories for me. 
It originates from Provence, in the south of France. A familiar place to me.

Originating from the western Mediterranean basin, lavender was already used by the Romans to preserve linen and scent baths. 
In Provence, lavender was employed in the Middle Ages for the production of perfumes and medicines, but it wasn't until the 19th century that its cultivation expanded.'

Happy new year and welcome to 2024! Bright Patterns welcomes Garçon from Switzerland for this new chapter of the show. He’s a resident at Elysia in Basel and co-runs Amenthia Recordings with Agonis. More often than not, we have the pleasure of hearing his deep cerebral explorations of rhythm, building sets and mixes with thoughtful intention for the dance floor. While I and many others enjoy these recordings again and again, he presents a softer side here that’s equally as brilliant. “I wanted to play music i'd like to listen to in the morning or stay in bed to” he added.
