Circle VIII: Mendacium (Lying).
The lair of pimps and deceivers consists of 10 moats, in the center of which lies the most frightful - the 9th circle of Hell. Nearby, soothsayers, fortunetellers, witches, bribe takers, hypocrites, flatterers, thieves, alchemists, false witnesses and counterfeiters suffer.
Punishment: sinners are walking in two oncoming streams, whipped by demons, sticking to feces, some bodies are chained into rocks, fire is streaming down the feet. Someone is boiling in tar, and, if it comes out, the demons stick in hooks. Shackled in lead mantles sinners are put on a hot brazier, sinners are gutted and tortured by reptiles, leprosy and deprive.
