The Balearic pioneer’s mastery of the warm, dreamy chill-out material meets the cinematic craft of Danish composer and ambient producer Troels Hammer. Also in the mix is the Danish producer Anders Ponsaing.

‘Quiet Yellow Purple’ is the second single from Ambala’s forthcoming album Volume 2, the long awaited follow-up to his 2016 Volume 1, also released on Music For Dreams.

Phil Mison has been a pivotal figure of the Ibiza-scene since the early 90’s, heralding the Balearic sound in the UK and across the rest of the world. He has previously released music on Music For Dreams under the moniker Cantoma.

Starting off with Ghent-based Reinhard Vanbergen, who delivers a work of sweeping electronic waves interspersed with ghostly orchestral cries. On through a batch of sweet, aquatic chill-out tracks from Be.Lanuit, Phil Mison’s Ambala-project and Ken Fan and some wonderful guitar-laden ambient pop from Troels Hammer.

The always reliable Dj Pippi & Willie Graff are one here with a couple of gently tempered boogie tracks. So is the Danish-Brazillian alliance Copenema and the master of the Spanish guitar, Jacob Gurevitsch, who delivers a breezy morning meditation.

The song is written and performed by Brazilian singer Vanja Santos and
references Ogum, a warrior spirit and deity of metallurgy, also known as the “god of iron.”

The song is produced by Markus Artved and Jonas Visti who reflect the thematics of battle and war with a fierce, club-inspired edge. A sound that builds on deeper instrumental layers, performed by some of Denmark’s finest jazz musicians: Jacob Artved (gr), Nikolaj Svaneborg (keys) and Peter Stenbæk (percussion).

‘Ogum’ is the first taste of a full length album, which lands in the fall of this year. The album will feature artists such as Emma Sehested Høeg, Dawda Jobarteh, Jonathan Bremer, Oilly Wallace and Johannes Warmberg.

The main man behind the collective is Danish musician, DJ and radio host Jonas Visti, known for his dissemination of global jazz, funk and rock, particular from the southern hemisphere, through his show Visti’s Vinyls on Danish public radio P8.

Visti’s Vinyl Collective is comprised of musicians from the Danish jazz scene who collaborate with special guests from South America and Africa. Musically, the project is a creative extension of his radio show: not really bound by genre or conventions but by an easy-going, warm, colorful sensibility and an ethos focused on the collective functions of music.

Julie Pavon - High (Musumeci Remix) - s0800

"Tavisufleba" is a Georgian word and it means freedom. This track is dedicated to the people of Georgia fighting for freedom and better future.  

The governing party in Georgia has reintroduced a controversial piece of legislation, originally known as the “Russian Law.” Despite facing massive public protests last year, which led to the proposal’s withdrawal, the party has now made a slight modification in terminology—from “agent of foreign influence” to “organization carrying the interests of a foreign power.” This change in nomenclature does little to alter the substance of the law, which requires Georgian organizations receiving more than 20% of their funding from abroad to register under this new designation. This move, akin to Russia’s “Foreign Agents” legislation, threatens to undermine civil liberties by imposing numerous reporting requirements, inspections, and severe penalties for non-compliance. Despite the disinformation, we are stronger than ever. We are here and we are ready to fight. 

Sound used in the last bit of the track is recorded by me during last years police raid of the protest against the same law.

The forthcoming forthcoming LP, titled Volume 2, is set to come out in the beginning of 2025.
