The album were written in the Spanish Balearic island of Majorca where Jacob frequents to get inspiration, and recorded in his hometown of Copenhagen, Denmark.

‘El Terreno’ contain his trademark signature sound of laid-back, melancholic Jazz. Superior Spanish guitar playing with beautiful emotive melodies accompanied by his band’s live instrumentation. The subtle double bass, strings and drum brushes complimenting the guitarist with great effect.

British producer and DJ Phil Mison is a true pioneer of the Balearic beat, having released genre-defining material under monikers Cantoma and Reverso 68. Now he continues his Ambala-project at Music For Dreams with this tenderly lounged chillout single.

The track bears Mison’s unmistakable touch: halcyon mood, texturally rich and ineffably chilled, as cushy synth pluck between gentle percussion and welcome the vocal hook sung in Bantú by trio Iyami Aje. Danish composer and ambient-producer Troels Hammer and producer Anders Ponsaing feature in the production as well.

The Danish duo’s track features Spanish vocals by Charlotte Caluwaerts of Rheinzand, sung over a smacking downtempo beat laced with Spanish guitar. This new 8-minute extended cut accommodates DJ and non-DJ play alike, giving the special vibe a chance to settle in the evening air before the romance moves on.

“In life the potential for something great is often revealed in small changes, happy accidents, little turns of fate,” says Michael Rune, producer and saxophonist. “A sax-theme is changed to a guitar-theme, and a song is born. Or you’ll bump into someone on the street and instantly know you’ll want to spend the rest of your life with them. This is what ‘Historia del Amor’ is about.”

Music For Dreams are proud to announce The Beginning, the first LP from new Danish electronic act Subnesia, to be released on October 13.

Behind the moniker hides the producer pair Anders Ponsaing and Michael Rune, both from Copenhagen. Ponsaing has a background as a DJ and Rune has worked for many years as a saxophonist. With Subnesisa, they have created an electronic pop-project with heavy melodic and instrumental focus. Elements from hip hop, funk or latin folk are driven through rich downtempo beats in a stream of heartfelt, romantic and chilled out moods.

Ponsaing and Rune say about the record:

”The album doesn’t follow a linear sonic thread as much as each song represents something distinct and self-contained. The common thread is our shared journey, our exploration through these different sounds.

The vision for Subnesia is to create a melting pot of musical talents, spanning a wide array of genres and styles. We want to make something new and exciting by combining organic, acoustic and electronic elements into something unique.

The Beginning reflects this vision in that we’ve been working with a lot of different talented musicians to create a record that exceeds conventional boundaries. This is the culmination of our work with Music For Dreams and visionary Kenneth Bager.
We’ve truly found an identity and direction through this collaboration.”

The album features multiple guest musicians and vocalists such as Baun, Truck D, Mathias Heise, Charlotte Caluwaerts, Nordal and Nikolai Bøgelund.

Subnesia - The Beginning (Full Album) - 0260

Ben Smith return with a raft of solo material after his debut release on NuNorthern Soul back in 2012. The Movedrill projects saw Ben weave between rock and folk roots and this latest projects sees Ben push the folk sound he has become known and respected for. Renown as a multi instrumentalist B.J. Smith is perhaps best known for his wonderful ‘Dedications to the Greats’ release which have seen him cover Mos Def, The Pharcyde and OutKast in his own unique style, Ben is also half of Balearic super duo, Smith & Mudd and one third of White Elephant with Jim and Chris from Crazy P.

This release forms part of a series of x3 12”s and will include mixes from Jonny Nash and A Man Called Adam.

Between Ship and Shore is a selection of folk songs that Ben has been crafting between his London home and summers spent in Cornwall and the results speak for themselves. One man and his guitar and his tales of time spent by the wonderful coastline of the South West of the UK and a hint of the Scottish Highlands.

JJ Cale, Terry Callier and John Martyn all influence and inspire Ben, and this is apparent in his subtle yet powerful tales.

'Hold On To It' utilises Ben's harmonious vocals and guitar playing skills to set the mood and building towards the main body of the track which unleashes a barrage of drums and percussion, the calm before the storm one might say, while the nagging vocal refrain of ‘Hold On To It’ urges the listener to do just that… 

'We Can Sail’ once again see’s Ben show his great vocal skills, this sublime relaxed outing washes around the listeners like the gentle waves lapping the shore. Ben adds brass stabs and harmonies that take this tracks soaring into the blue skies and adding plenty of space to allow it to soar and swirl like a gull on the sea breeze.

Jonny Nash takes ‘Hold On To It’ and adds his unique and prestigious style to proceedings, creating an ambient journey of early morning fog bound coastlines with haunting guitar work that ebbs and flows like the tide and adding off kilter, muted vocals to create the erie ambience of solitude and calm.
