Parma-based singer and songwriter Loreni’s released her synth-pop version in 2020 and here the always charming Mushrooms Project are joined by Deep88 to provide four subterranean reworks. Translated as ‘snow in May’, the song alludes to the confusing and unexpected times through which the world is currently living, and Loreni’s bittersweet vocals offer ample inspiration for the chosen remixers to work their respective magic here. Fellow Parma residents Marco and Girogio unite under their Mushrooms Project banner with three distinct interpretations.
The duo’s work is always immaculately formed, and here they open proceedings with their ‘Disco Maxi Single’ version, where throbbing synth bass and atmospheric waves are joined by crisp machine drums for a pulsating club workout. Their ‘Balearic’ mix finds them in familiar territory as they join Leo Almunia to compose a blissful soundtrack to immersive ocean-side reflections. As the name suggests, their ‘Rave’ version is designed for dubbed out dancefloors, with bass-heavy rhythm and wigged-out effects periodically lifted by dreamy chords and distantly gliding vocals. Finally, Alessandro ‘Deep88’ Pasini arrives with his authentic dream house version, with emotive pads caressing Loreni’s reverb-soaked vocals over a chugging four/four rhythm.

Music For Mindfulness, Vol. 6 starts with the daydreaming ‘Ten Days Of Silence’, written and produced by the artistic collective Voice Of Art consisting of label boss Kenneth Bager, pianist Troels Hammer and the aspirating young electronic producers DJ DIVO & OliO. Copenema joins the track list with their saxophone-based cover of João Gilberto’s Estate.

Vinicio Adames third single on Music For Dreams 'La Forma del Tiempo II’ is also included featuring Amarú, taken from his forthcoming album 'Guaral'. The compilation also features the ever- relaxing Bliss with their tune ‘Arapapa’ featuring Al Agami.

Just like Vol 1. earlier this year, it’s a compilation filled to the rim with catchy blessings, making sure that you can withhold from the winter to coming.

Noticeable amongst this compilation’s 19 blessings is the opener ‘Aviator’ by the inventive, percussion- based ensemble Sun Creatures consisting of the two musicians Arto Eriksen and Fridolin Nordsø. A sexy jazzy single that could have come out of a stripped-down Love Unlimited Orchestra tune. Another addition is Brit- ish-Chinese DJ and producer Ken Fan that delivers a slice of surging euphoria with ‘Desire’. It’s an operatic journey of blissful pads and majestic piano rises, sus- tained by dynamic drum work. Furthermore, it’s the first single from Ken Fan’s forthcoming project with MFD.

Label-boss Kenneth Bager, the Turkish islandman and Jez Phunk has gotten together and created the won- der ‘Lost’, an exclusive for this compilation. ‘Lost’ is a ra- ther up-tempo chill-out tune with a catchy bassline, chords, shouting tales and a violin solo. DJ Disse’s iconic track ‘Taxi to War’ has been remixed by new- comers Subnesia so “la la lay” yourself through your day.

CHAIRNOGOODFORBACK is featured with their single ‘High Mountains Wild Rivers’. The duo says that they wanted to reflect the stream of consciousness and the idea of being able to comprehend and overcome sit- uations in life through common sense.

Finishing off Copenhagen 2022 Vol. 2 is Venezuelan Vi- nicio Adames who’s won several awards for his sound- tracks on Venezuelan movies. This time he’s featured with a church like ‘Ocre’.

Hailing from Gent, Belgium, kaleidoscopic disco band Rheinzand is a collaborative project between multi-instrumentalist and producer Reinhard Vanbergen, Charlotte Caluwaerts and Mo Disko of renowned duo The Glimmers; accompanied live by Stéphane Misseghers (dEUS) on drums and Bruno Coussée (MannGold) on bass. Upon turning on 'Atlantis Atlantis', the oh so welcome spectre of recently departed Maria Mendola - the airy chanteuse of the beloved Bacchara - seems to appear. Charlotte Caluwaerts, a voice of similar purity proffers the message: “We’ll be alright” on their first single, offering a salve to the troubles the world has faced in recent years. As with their previous work, melody is key. Rich arrangements abound, with Reinhard Vanbergen’s light and funky crevices detailing a home that feels cozy, inviting the listener into the best, most unexpected club around; the one in their living room with all their closest friends. The “Max Berlin” of the group, Mo Disko, is no stranger to bringing this kind of intimacy to his events and freewheeling DJ sets for decades in Gent, Belgium. Once again, his spirit pushes the record into that inviting place where inhibition dissolves, (aka you can really freak out).   Much of Rheinhard Vanbergen’s recent output for Music for Dreams has expertly traversed the forgotten worlds of virtuoso led experimental records, full lengths with tracks that maestros like DJ Harvey undoubtedly treasure. There are glimpses of these danceable instrumental improvisational landscapes such as ”Orange Bun”. One thing about Rheinzand is that they are musicians driven to make dance music that harkens back to a moment when real players appeared on dance music records. These were musicians devoted to their instruments, the kind who made love to them on stage, unafraid of modulations, bombast, histrionics even (cue Elefantasi). Slower subdued numbers reiterate the “journey to Atlantis” we are on, such as the a cover of “Love Games” an honest low slung boogie take on the track.   One of the biggest takeaways from 'Atlantis Atlantis' is the excavation of the real fun that was had in dance music before the advent of loop-based technology. Epic chord progressions, singing songs in multiple languages - these are musicians exploring the colour palette of the entire Pantone spectrum, not only shades of grey and black. Rheinzand's 2020 s/t debut album was awarded Piccadilly Records' (Manchester) number 1 album of the year and Phonica (London) gave them a well-deserved place in their top 50 of best albums of 2020. Tracks from the album such as ‘Blind’ were championed by DJ Harvey during his summer residency at Pikes Ibiza, and the band have had tracks on the first two volumes of his Mercury Rising compilations.

This album is a compilation of Reinhard Vanbergen’s work. Compiled by Jon Tattersall, Music for Dreams’ label manager and a close friend. This compilation saw the light after Vanbergen released 17 solo albums in 3 years of different styles and another dozen releases with various other projects.

Vanbergen’s solo albums with vocals are all co- written with Charlotte Caluwaerts. The instrumental albums are a mix of nu-classical, ambient, and cinematic soundscapes. Stringed instruments mostly being the basic ingredient of it all, contributing to Vanbergen’s signature sound.

Vanbergen have made a series of “Inspired by” albums and some of the tracks are featured on this ‘best of’ album. For those albums, artists outside of music ignited the inspiration. A painter, a star chef, a photographer, a VR game company, an installation artist...
To stay within this tradition, Vanbergen asked for a painting by another inspiring artist he was lucky enough to meet while he was on tour in Kosovo.

Fitore Berisha Alisdottir is a Kosovar-Icelandic artist. Through her art, she brings out the emotions of desperation and the expression of those surrounding her. Her colours represent the future she hopes to see, vibrant and full of love. Her work treats human problems and obstacles from daily life, which she's witnessed during her journeys in many different places.

Sharing art, connecting and supporting other artists, and building a network of like-minded people was the common ground from the start with Kenneth Bager’s Music For Dreams, and the spirit in which all Vanbergen’s albums and projects were created.

The Australian-based Jamie Porteous is releasing his debut album on Music For Dreams ‘Tropical Mountain Man’.

The album came to life in the middle of the corona pandemic. Whilst Australia was in lockdown Jamie got a job as an “essential” worker, delivering coffee up the coast of Queensland. This would turn out to be an adventurous road trip where Jamie would stop at all his favourite haunts.

In 2018 Jamie moved from Ibiza after having lived there for 10 years. The road trip would have Jamie and his Ibiza dog Teela drive the coffee van far North from their home on the subtropical Gold Coast.
After passing Capricorn the waves stop, the reef starts and the full tropical ecosystems kick in. The mountains become filled with palm trees and the bounty beaches with coconuts. Also, the animals become stranger and more colourful. There’re wild crocodiles, cassowaries, pythons, and beautiful Ulysses butterflies.

At Jamies favourite Aussie spot with a Daintree tea plantation surrounding him the phrase ‘Tropical Mountain Man’ came to his mind. Jamie says “accompanied by a friend we would sing this hilarious song ‘Tropical Mountain Man’ which sounded like the opening of a children's cartoon. Kind of a Spongebob vibe.” This can be heard at the end of the song ‘Tropical Mountain Man’.

“There's nothing quite like being somewhere as beautiful as the rainforest, especially when the whole world has shut down... It truly felt like being in heaven at times and I will never forget this unique experience. As soon as I got home, I started producing the songs inspired by these 2 months on the road.” – Jamie

Mentioning a few of the beauties is ‘The Prophecy' that’s driven by the hand-pan alongside atmospheric strings putting the listener in a dreamlike state. ‘The Shiva' consists of a moving beat with melodies from the Chinese pipa and opera vocals - an unusual mixture of sounds that Ken Fan magically consolidates. And this album’s first single ‘The Prophecy' is an operatic journey of blissful pads and majestic piano rises, sustained by dynamic drum work.

With a fusion of jazz, Jamaican dub and opera Ken Fan makes everything come together in search of higher grounds where it’ll set its mark on future Balearic releases.

The EP starts with the downtempo ‘Bleu’ giving hints of the duo’s fabulous debut album. This is followed up by the title track ‘Sól’ whose theme consists of an imaginary and intoxicating brass.

‘Candisiva’ brings in the guitar and a flow like water. When you thought you might get up off the sunbed to dance, the fourth wonder ‘Elliot’ comes on and makes you twist and shout. Bringing the whole EP together is the chill-out tune ‘Bien’.

Pete Blaker caught the attention of Rheinzand with his superb edits of classic tracks that have become a main staple in the sets of DJ Harvey over the past few years. So it was a no brainer to include Pete when commissioning remixes for their Remix Album released in 2021 where he re-worked 'Strange World'.

After releasing the critically acclaimed album Atlantis Atlantis last year the band and Music For Dreams embarked upon some selective remixes for this Album. The Scorpio Twins remix of 'Facciamo L'Amore' featured highly on 2022 Year End charts after smashing it on dance-floors & festivals over the summer.

We also have some very exciting collaborations to follow this year (on vinyl too) which we are super excited to share. This is a taste of things to come. Enjoy!
