This year the Tour De France Grand Départ is in Copenhagen. The route is very close to Music For Dreams HQ, therefore we decided to put out a little EP to celebrate this event.

We asked a few MFD artists to do cover versions of electronic pioneers Kraftwerk from their incredible Tour De France Soundtracks album which was released in 2003.
Charlotte & Reinhard (from Rheinzand) have done a version of Vitamin.
Danish Duo Subnesia have done a modern funky take on the 1983 classic title track with Truck D on vocals.

The Swan & The Lake featuring Rosebud chose Aéro Dynamik for their version.
We think its a nice homage to the original and also a fantastic cover artwork by MSB Creations to finish off the release.

Subnesia - Baila Gitano ft. Nordal - s0645

PBR Streetgang are Bonar Bradberry and Tom Thorpe. A a pair completely submerged in the world of club music their entire adult life. Their debut release was ‘Never Get Off the Boat’ in 2008 on Croatian label Red Music Records and since those early beginnings they have released on Futureboogie, Throne Of Blood, 2020Vision, Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels and Skint Records. Their remix work has included Kylie, Lana Del Rey, Bryan Ferry, Hot Chip and Friendly Fires and more. As DJs they have played across the globe at almost every venue and festival of credible note. Outside of the studio and the booth, their residency on Rinse FM has become one of the mainstays of the stations, hosting international guests and fresh talent each month. PBR’s label, Kurtz Records, was created by the duo as a platform for their own output and as a stage to champion some of their favourite new artists as remixers.

Fast forward 20 years … 20 f’kin years! 

To many crowds the world over PBR Streetgang are known and loved for their talents behind the turntables, but to others they are producers and remixers whose eclectic taste and evolving style has seen them enjoy longevity and much acclaim. To celebrate this milestone PBR bring us a rare selection of originals and remixes that shows the breadth and depth of their work. 

Featuring early originals that propelled them into the limelight, like ‘Downstroke’ and ‘J2Thab’, and more recently their stand-out disco tinged nugget from their debut album ‘Late Night Party Line’. Previously un-pressed remixes like the cult classic rework of Romanthony’s ‘Bring You Up’, the slow chuggy sleaze of Bryan Ferry’s ‘One Night Stand’, and the teary-eyed euphoria of their remix of Hot Chip’s ‘Melody of Love’.

This compilation represents an honest retrospective of the production and remix talents of PBR Streetgang. Always keeping true to their sound, and true to themselves.

We’re proud to present this debut collection of tracks from Danish producer Wille. His craft is an exercise in bringing together disparate inspirations and influences from the annals of dance music: italo, disco, acid, deep house, jazz. Shimmering constellations in the young producer’s musical firmament, continually vying for the foreground throughout these five tracks.

We’ve got the neon-dripping 80’s-throwback ‘Midnight in Milan’ or the sweetly crystalline ‘Summer Freeze’, emphasizing his personal Nordic bend on Mediterranean chill-out habits. “Scandolearia”, as he calls it himself, a sound that straddles the climate zones of Northern and Southern Europe in a singular synthesis.

While ‘Småland’ recalls the serenity of the artist’s native Nordic plains, the title track ‘Friangipani’ signifies the longing for warmer passions, referencing both a tropical flower and a famed family from the Roman Middle Ages. Newcomer Wille flexes an impressive production skill throughout these five tracks, revealing a deftness for the magic melodies and tireless loops. A name to watch out for, no doubt.

For Jonas Krag, the guitar has become something of a prosthetic limb. Spanning a twenty-year career, he has produced, written and played music with a wealth of artists on the Danish pop and rock-scene. Along the way, sketches of something more personal began to collect in his mind and with Santino Surfers these ideas have now crystallized into a fully-fledged artistic language.

What smolders beneath this music is an unabashed aural indulgence. The sound is luscious, warm and melodically rich from end to end. Nimble riffs and squirming solos arranged effortlessly around the rippling drums.

Take the gorgeously flowing structures of ‘Sunrise Swell’, the gentle psychedelia of ‘Who Ordered Fish’, the waxy 80’s-infused coolness of ‘Late Night Neon’ or the sprawling solo pageantry of ‘Three Corners One View’.

Sarcoz mix for Fall 23'. I brought back a lot of new music from Europe which I've featured here. An (un)usual smattering of what I like. A combination of digital and vinyl mixed on a Xone 96 and run through an RMX-1000. Theres a few blemishes mostly running on the EFX side but all in all, should provide a nice soundtrack for driving through falling leaves, splitting firewood, organizing your junk drawer or arguing with your soon to be ex... enjoy!

“Mental Mother” can sound like the title to a gothic themed short story or Black Mirror episode, but the song itself has utopian strains, the synth progressions are uplifting, there is a feeling of assurance and warmth, the minds work prodvucing a nurturing mother, a better day, a sustaining world.

With every track on the EP, Project Sandro articulates cinematic and lush environs. With restraint and elegance the songs build soundscapes that give the listener room to engage with a range of emotions from the dark and foreboding to the light of some resolved clarity. Project Sandro does this at their own pace, nothing feels forced or contrived, there are no sleight of hands or overt manipulations, like all good art the songs have faith in their intent. The listener is offered a sense of place that they can inhabit, the specifics provided by our subjectivity, the songs rhythms carrying us to our destinations. Project Sandro’s first Ep is an assured offering and sets the standard for what hopefully will be a prolific oeuvre.
