Eric Broucek was the ur-engineer of the most fertile era of DFA Studios, from about 2003 to 2008 (no one knows anything precisely about that time, as it’s all lost in the fog of chaos). His hand was on all of the remixes, LPs, dance 12s. He was there in that over-designed gear dungeon almost every day, recording, mixing, struggling to not roll his eyes at Tim and me. And somewhere in that fog, he quietly dropped limited runs of three 12-inch delayed reaction bombs on his own label Stickydisc Recordings—two under the name Babytalk, and one as Watussi with another DFA regular, Morgan Wiley.

Back in the day, Eric did not want his music released on DFA. He wanted to forge his own identity, which he did, sending out music that wandered from the DFA path with its uniquely wonky, upended and understated power. His music is so unlike everything else of that era, so profoundly singular, that it still sounds completely out of time.

A few years back, I started DJing the tracks again, and saw how the world was still surprised by what Eric had made, and the idea of this compilation was born.

So, in the end, Eric, we totally got to release your records anyway. We heart you, man.

Hell Yeah's lovingly curated Buena Onda series is back with a new edition that focuses on Adriatic Beats & Beyond. It has been assembled by label head Marco Gallerani and features four exclusive new tunes that reflect his summer residences at a cosy beach bar on Italy's Eastern and Adriatic coast.

Marco moved back to his hometown of Ferrara after the pandemic and began spending more time at the local seaside, the famous Lidi Ferraresi. It's there, at Lido di Spina, that a friend runs Kai Beach Bar, a small spot where, every Thursday throughout August for the last three years, he has soundtracked afternoons and sunsets under the Buena Onda banner, more than a decade after the party first started in Berlin.

"The beat has become less Balearic, more Adriatic," he explains of the sounds that can be heard up and down the coastline. "There’s no sunset culture yet, but they like a groove for aperitivo. This selection reflects the music I propose there, a kinda sunrise to sunset trip."

The 13-track selection includes four exclusives: the first is Blende's 'Amor,' which is forthcoming on the label. Johan Blende is a Swedish producer, songwriter and DJ who weaves together modern dance with retro sounds of the 70s and 80s and debuts on the label this summer with his Recess EP. 'Amor' is a bubbly groove with a New Age wash and lo-fi pads full of charm.

Hell Yeah regular and Italian magic man Walter Del Vecchio aka Quiroga also offers a new Baia Club Ambient Version of 'French Kiss' which has a lazy acid line worming its way through dubby kicks and tabla drums, and his dreamy electro soother 'Cala Ventosa' also features. Secret Soul Society, aka South Wales's Cal Gibson, also tests a new EP with his 'Orange Surprise' blending off-balance rhythmic shuffles with starry cosmic melodies. The final exclusive is from Balearic Gabba Sound System, who flip The Vendetta Suite aka the legendary Gary Irwin's 'Della Notte' into a quietly epic cinematic closer with icy analogue beats and a warped bassline for dubbed out late night escape. His 'Island Hill Microdot' also offers some warped cosmic ambient house introspection.

Elsewhere, Michele Mininni features twice - once with Gallo's Tropical Hinterhof Remix of the suspensory ambient lushness pop 'Carousel of Tears' and once with the original percussive pressure and hip-house fusion of 'Urban Voodoo' from his Pop Archetypes LP. Buena Onda veteran Feel Fly comes through with an Estatico Danzante Remix of Pedro Bertho's 'Tornei' feat Mariana Gehring and takes us to the stars on twinkling keys, dusty breakbeats and steamy vocals that glow as warm as a setting sun.

Add in further groovy gems such as Bonnie and Klein's synth and vibes laced 'Horizon Avenue,' dreamy, breaks-driven downtempo brilliance from pub wave innovator Dawn Again, hints of Ibiza cool from Willie Graff's remix of Aura Safari & Jimi Tenor and some upbeat synth-laced house from label stalwart Luminodisco and you have a faultless collection of grooves for grown up dance floors.

Edoardo Barbi or GLEDD is an Italian DJ, producer, and label head whose music fuses disco, funk, soul, afro and latin grooves into warm, organic house. With deep family roots in music - his grandfather was a jazz musician - GLEDD grew up surrounded by soul, rock, and electronic sounds that shaped his eclectic style. After spending several years in Mexico City, where he launched the Makonga party series, he returned to Europe, continuing to expand his global vision. He is the founder of Saint Wax, co-owner of Radio Mundo Records, and a curator of grooves that balances retro vibes with fresh energy. His releases include the soulful Behind a Cloud EP (2021), the gospel tinged Get Back EP (2024), and recent singles Idinga and No Fight for Us (2025). Known for his meticulous yet instinctive production, GLEDD blends acoustic instruments, vintage-inspired textures, and contemporary rhythms, always guided by a simple ethos: play what feels right. GLEDD is without question cementing a reputation as a boundary-pushing artist redefining modern house.

For the first time @iron-curtis enters the ring over the full EP length for Uncanny Valley. There hasn't been much of a discussion whether or not this is something for Uncanny Valley when Iron Curtis approached the four label heads with this new pile of dance floor material. These tunes are too good. Iron Curtis must have been particularly inspired by the muse while producing these four outstanding House tracks. You’ll feel a comprehensive knowledge about Dance music’s history when listening. No doubt, the Franconian who is now based in Berlin has spent a good time of analysing House music’s techniques.

Finally the instrumental version of Urbs’ self-titled album.

It has been eleven long years since Urbs dropped his last album which was called “Toujours Le Meme Film”. Back then, the musician, DJ and producer created the soundtrack to a fictitious Film Noir, which was released on Kruder & Dorfmeister‘s G-Stone Label, but after touring Europe he almost completely retreated from public life. He does not consider his creativity as being his career, but rather as a part of his life which rarely is subject to concrete planning, and that is why Urbs quite consciously took his time to create his latest –untitled- album.
Urbs: “A lot of people totally appreciated my last album “Toujours Le Meme Film”, and over the years I’ve learned that it really means a lot to some of them. Which was a burden, because, obviously, you do not want to disappoint these people. By now, I think enough water went down Danube river to perhaps surprise some of them with something completely new. Those who know me know that I’ve always simply produced dope hip hop tracks.”
This time, as a consequence, this is no all instrumental album but a collection of 12 soulful hip hop tunes that feature some handpicked vocalist of the international rap, dancehall and soul scenes. On the album right next to EMC’s Wordsworth or R.A. the Rugged Man from New York, you will hear Ward 21 from Kingston, Jamaica, Voice Monet from New Orleans, One Self’s Blu Rum 13 from Washington DC, as well as long time companions like Skero from Vienna or Blabbwona from the group Abstract Art, who now lives in Munich by choice.
With a wink of the eye, Urbs replies to the question what it felt like recording an album together with vocalists after having released several instrumental albums: “Generally speaking, letting go of the songs and surrendering myself to the MCs gave me a hard time. You spend a lot of time with a song and build a certain kind of relationship. The music creates pictures in your mind and often its meaning is hard to grasp for the producer. And then, an MC starts rapping over it and it is a little bit like your older brother’s rude friends turn your child's room in a mess – in your presence.”
There also is a simple answer to the question of why the album has no title: “This album, so to say, is my competitive exhibition in this field and owing to the endlessly long ripening process it is wonderfully and intensively boiled down and on point. Therefore, no intros, no interludes, no title, no gimmicks, simply 12 good songs – period.”
Besides the album, two Remix EPs will be released with re-works by Retrogott, Brenk Sinatra, Visoneers (Marc Mac of 4 Hero), Peter Kruder, Cookin’ Soul, J*Star, Flip (Texta) and others. The artwork is made by DJ DSL.

Once personified, those things are free to become our beloveds, or our nemeses. Our friend-things are everywhere: waiting dutifully in a closet, standing mute in our childhood toys, or suspended in our photos. Some friend-things can come even closer to a kind of life with a little electricity, and help us build things, play games with us, or sing us songs. Andy, Wally and Ray are old friends of mine. I brought them together to get a feeling back, and to do what they do best. It's a reunion song. They are kind-of imaginary, yes. But the music we make is very real."

Following Doza’s EPIC theme “The Nautilus” comes the warm and uplifting single-tracker "Andy, Wally & Ray".  
As where "The Nautilus" was an exercise in self-limitation, using only sounds from one keyboard, "Andy, Wally & Ray" brings three key instruments together again: the Alesis Andromeda A6, Waldorf Microwave XT, and Ray Kurtzweil’s stalwart PC2x (hence the title). Here, Doza illustrates the concept of electronic instruments as friends, complete with personalities and their own voices to be discovered and celebrated. With crecendos a plenty, "Andy, Wally & Ray" walks listeners through choral peaks and valleys with layers of blissful electronic nuances perfect for dance floors and headphones alike.
