Francis Harris’ Thresholds album dropped on his own Scissor and Thread earlier this year, garnering rave reviews for an album steeped in atmospheres, drone textures and electro-acoustic explorations. 

It’s an album far removed from the dancefloor, but he’s also managed to curate a remix package from some of the most talented and boundary-pushing artists active on the fringes of the electronic music space. 

First up is Manchester resident Hidden Spheres’ remix of Earth Moves, which is flipped into a pulsating slice of electronica. 

Yu Su, the up-and-coming producer currently living in Canada, takes the same track on a different journey, resulting in a slinky, affecting piece of music that eventually falls into a deep groove.  

Speaker Music - the moniker of ‘rhythmanalyst’ DeForrest Brown, Jr., delivers two reworks of the albums title track Thresholds. The Rhythm Remix focuses on the original’s brass washes, and adds a thick, playful bass rhythm. The Studio Soul remix is more a freeform piece of audio manipulation and editing, resulting in a transportative piece of work that fully compliments the original track.

The music of Venezualan composer Vinicio Adames has featured in various productions, art exhibitions, film and tv for over 30 years. ‘Cotoperi,’ his second single from a forthcoming album, is a thing of muted beauty. A pulse of color in white space, the guitar iterates its call. It is answered by a voice, lucid and free, like the beating of wings in still air. Below, the piano accents and glides. Everything repeats yet always slightly new. An enchanting little piece for sure.

The EP series returns with more outlaws from San Francisco, Mexico, Japan, Portugal and err, Nottingham causing havoc on dance floors worldwide.

 Mr Tea is back, this time remixing Praus and he's turned in a deep house, space disco banger.  Tribal drums, analogue B-line and heavy atmospherics result in a 4am melon twister of a track.

Tokyo resident R-04's 'Kanbanwa' is 4.38 of perfectly formed deep disco garage.  Heavy beats blend with synth jams to make way for the popping bass played by Mike Watt of Minutemen and The Stooges fame. That's right, as in Iggy Pop.

For Torn Sail's Treasure, Tiago follows up his epic Birds remix on Claremont 56 with balearic headlights turned to full beam.  A nagging synth bass bounces along as organ, effected vocals and live drums create a mood that's just lovely.

Finally, Picotropico takes things deep with stripped back house track 'Oslove' that uses samples, percussion and drums to take us deep into the jungle.  Halfway through, things pick as the pulsing bass starts to drive a perfect blend of early doors / late night house music.
