We have another treat for you today as Parisian session-supergroup Monsieur MÂLÂ return with a continuation of their 21st-century jazz fusion sound, announcing upcoming EP "002-MM' with a new single 'Til Daylight'. 

In the group's own words, "Til Daylight is this feeling of a strong and fascinating passion, gentle but intense in every moment. Like a dream during a night that we would like to be endless of which the dawning light of day brings us back to reality. This melody reminds us that what is essential is what remains in our memories and our bodies: this indescribable sensation of a timeless moment."

The group combine contemplative melodies with club-tinged electronics and ethereal grooves to take listeners on a journey into a dream-like state. Swaéli Mbappé's (China Moses) bass connects with Mathieu Edward's (De La Soul / Chassol) machine-like drumming, with keys wizard Nicholas Vella (Mayra Andrade), bringing adventurous harmonic language supported by airy melodies from Balthazar Naturel and Robin Antunes (sax ; violin/mandolin). 

Their successful debut EP (2021) was championed by Jazz FM and WWFM, giving them a gateway into establishing a UK audience before a debut UK headline at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London.

New music today from Agile Experiments, true believers of the freedom principle, who live up to their reputation for having the heaviest abstract grooves on "if you believe”. 

Taken from forthcoming album, ‘These Are Time For Mind And Spirit’, which sees the ever-evolving Agile Experiments return with their sharpest record to date, "if you believe" patiently unravels over a uniquely voiced drum groove building toward ecstatic echo walls of layered saxophone bliss. 

The de facto leader of Agile Experiments, and sole constant, is drummer, bassist and producer, Dave De Rose. Whilst incredibly busy recording and self-releasing albums, he also finds time to record and tour with Gnawa fusionists, Electric Jalaba, and has performed alongside the likes of Mulatu Astatke and Róisín Murphy.

According to Dave De Rose, "this title (if you believe) is stolen from a Meshell Ndegeocello lyric "if you believe that your god is better than another man, how will we end all your suffering?"... I'm often thinking about belief, whether in religious or non religious contexts. I made up my own belief over the years. It's not static belief, it's flexible and evolves with me and my understanding of life as I carry on gaining information. It borrows from old faith systems and mixes them with scientific research not belonging to either. Always open. This track is mysterious, it builds in a subtle, constant manner, small details keep bubbling in showing you a bigger picture before it dissipates. You can pay attention or you can just let it sweep over you, just like life and belief in things we don't understand".

De Rose is joined by Jon Scott (of Go Go Penguin) on drums and George Crowley (of Melt Yourself Down) on saxophone and machines. Together they pursue the perfect meeting point between free improvisation, irresistible groove and enveloping sound. 

‘These Are Time For Mind And Spirit’ is Agile Experiments' 11th release in four years. This fertile communal project continues to proliferate without repeating itself due to its creative methodology, receiving support across BBC Radio 6 Music, The Wire, Jazzwise, Worldwide FM and NTS. 

Agile Experiments is a method of creation rather than a band; The setting of a frame of mind that encourages the musicians to unleash their utmost creativity placing no limit on their imagination. This absolute freedom increases the will of the musicians to give their most selfless self, guiding the musical direction of the recordings collectively through original pathways that are beneficial to artist and listener alike.

McKenzie & Gardiner are a certified UK Boogie Funk group from back in the day, known by funk/boogie aficionados and crate-diggers worldwide, thanks to songs like “From Time” and “Hold On Tight”.

The A Side: their classic cut “From Time” edited specifically for 7" length, a massive UK boogie-funk cut designed for dancefloor devastation.

The B Side: the "Groove Version" of “From Time”–a more sparse and subtle demo version–is an underground classic in the funk scene, released on 7" for the first time.

Sonic explorers Strata-Gemma return with a brand new cosmic jam in the shape "Space Faun". A blend of jazz, electronics and prog that is both playful and mysterious. 

Strata-Gemma, the musical project that masterfully blends jazz and electronic music, led by DJ and record producer Niccolò Bruni and musicians Luca Cacciatore (winds) and Andrea Moretti (bass), lands for the first time on Simona Faraone's label, New Interplanetary Melodies, with their third album: 'Radamanto'.

The duo tell us "Space Faun is a kind of bizarre cosmic dance of a faun, which translates into flute envelopes, synths and a pinch of Italian prog in the refrain".

Like a long-lost Holy Grail album from the mid-seventies, Kirk Degiorgio’s latest project, Modal Forces / Percussive Forces, explores both Modal Jazz and Seventies Jazz Fusion in the Library album format. Side One swings with a vengeance with its tight arrangements built around acoustic bass, electric piano and glorious analog synth leads and side 2 takes us on a journey of funk fuelled, percussive workouts and heavy breaks. The contributions of renowned session drummer Chris Whitten adds to the authenticity of the album as does the use of vintage, analog synths.

Now, as a taster of what's to come on this album, BBE is releasing Beersheba as the first single from the project. In true library music style Beersheba comes in at less than 4 minutes but manages to create an atmosphere and a story. With the keys overlaying a melody and a refrain on top of a bass and drum break rhythm this track not only paints a picture but also builds to a lovely mid-tempo dancefloor groove that tantalises the listener as to what the next track will be.

Kirk Degiorgio is a DJ, composer and music lover whose influences, from family and then going out to clubs from under-18 discos to attending the Belvedere Arms and 'Shoom' and working in Reckless Records, cover all genres of Black music. From Soul, Jazz-Funk, Funk and then House and Detroit Techno Kirk has a love and an appreciation for how all these sounds work together and evolve from each other.
