I started to think to make this compilation end of august when my friend Anna explained me the www.betterplace.org/en/projects/8617-an-elementary-school-for-ban-sakmuang-laos project.

I needed to make something real in my musician life so I asked my friends musicians and dj's to help me to raise found to build and elementary school in Laos.

Here's the compilation ready for you, there is a lot of fantastic unreleased tracks that you will enjoy!

The Toy Tonics crew is known for being addicted to two things: vintage music machines and old vinyl. 100% music aficionados. On the „Tonic Edits“ series the crew shares some of their favorite old tracks - in a reworked version. 
This time COEO get back in time. They destroyed a couple of 1970ies disco jams. Recut & repasted them. And gave them their special COEO touch. Of course it’s irresistible! 
This release comes on vinyl only first. Later maybe could be out on selected Digital sellers.. not sure yet.

Washington, DC's  Sol Power All-Stars have long been local favorites as a result of their melange of global soulful grooves. After gaining some acclaim with two cheeky edit EPs on GAMM and BSTRD Boots (Bastard Jazz's edit-leaning offshoot) some years back, the All-Stars decided to start their own label. Thus, Sol Power Sound was born, carrying over the african and latin influences of the group into a neat platform for both sample-based and originally produced house music. The label kicked things off with the super nifty Plaza Bolivar EP from the All-Stars themselves, before releasing two mighty EPs from Tom from Brookyln and Obas Nenor. Last year's self-produced Djidjo Vide 12" was, however, the last we'd seen from the imprint in a minute. Thankfully, here to break the hiatus and slot in as the imprint's fifth release is Aroop Roy's Rising Tides.

Occupying the A-Side is our premiere, the vocal mix of "Tembandumba". The cut is of course a re-imagination of Afro-Colombian vocalist Totó la Momposina's chant-laden classic, and a fully-licensed one at that! It opens in dramatic fashion, with vocals and flourishing percussion setting the table. Once the beat comes in, Aroop's knack for the rework becomes truly apparent. Perfectly tuned drums make the tune ride along, while a variety of layered synths blend nicely with the vocal chops of the original. "Tembandumba" is an eight minute long epic that employs a beautiful escalation of mood, perhaps functioning nicely as an opener of sorts due to the aforementioned introduction section of the track.

Sol Power Sound (@solpowerdc) adds a fifth release to its catalogue with 'Rising Tides,' a blazing EP from London producer, Aroop Roy (@aroop-roy). Aroop has delivered a string of hit records on Gamm, Basic Fingers, House of Disco, and Kampana, and is a welcome addition to the growing Sol Power Sound family. On 'Rising Tides', he offers two stunning visions of global house music which have already received outstanding feedback. The EP begins with 'Tembandumba', an epic and spiritual tribal dance (and fully licensed) reinterpretation of a Totó la Momposina classic. This journey of shifting rhythms, evolving filters, layered synths, and visceral percussion gradually builds into a fiery climax. The 'vocal mix' builds more patiently and is a natural opener, while the 'club mix' is arranged to mix perfectly into the peak time of any set.
