We follow up our last premiere with a remix from the mighty WheelUP!  Shout out to Re:Fill & Cognitiva Records!

of the full release of ‘Cycles’ by the Jazzfunk duo Re:Fill, Cognitiva shine a light on the incredible remixes that feature on the LP, with the reworks coming from some fine talents indeed.

The sound that Re:Fill are able to conjure up is one of rhythmic complexity, simmering melodic sequences, and an overall feeling of quietly building euphoria that only comes from Jazz laden dance grooves. To assist with the overall vibe of their debut LP, Sofatalk, WheelUP and Ben Hauke were recruited to put their spins on the cuts ‘Impulse’ and ‘Stillness’, and the goods they serve up are truly spectacular. ‘Impulse’ sees both Sofatalk and WheelUP working their magic, with the Sofatalk remix adding in a cosmic tinge to compliment the already wide array of chordal tones, with emphasis placed on the movement between density and spatial vacuums which makes the movement through the phases extra enjoyable. WheelUP takes things down to a saunter, but what a saunter it is, with the feeling captured here one of rhythmic excellence, with the keys enveloping the listener in what could only be described as a blissful bath of melody.

To wrap things up, Ben Hauke really shifts perspectives on ‘Stillness’, with the hazy piano fuelled experience found in the original turbo drived upon a two step leaning beat. The delicate piano that makes the original so intoxicating remains as a rhythmic motif, with plenty of intriguing elements thrown into the mix that keep the mind yearning for more, whilst the beat gets the feet stepping until the early hours.

Three remixes, three differing interpretations, one big wetting of the appetite. This excellent trio only hints at the wider picture, so get locked in until the big day arrives!

[PREMIERE] Re:Fill - Cycles (WheelUP Remix)

First play and an exclusive video premiere on this infectious house number from Spanish producer, Skygaze, nom de plume of architect-by-day, Jamie Tellado, from his forthcoming 'Astral Trip' EP on Flumo Recordings.

Architect by day and musician by night, Jaime Tellado picks up his Skygaze alias again and returns to the  Flumo Recordings fold with a brand new 12", the ‘Astral Trip’ EP; combining his knowledge of architecture with a love of sound to construct and merge acid house, broken beat and atmospheric melodicism.

The 'Astral Trip' EP follows releases on Guayaba records, Riverette and Thirty Three Circular. And remixes for Ed is Dead and Contours & Yadava, earning support/plaudits from the likes of Mr. Scruff, Simbad, K15, Andrew Jervis, Gilles Peterson, amongst others.

The common denominator throughout the release is the balance and combination of various elements, exploring a multifaceted contemporary dance sound whilst paying homage to the foundations of the sounds that we listen to today. EP opener "Minor Mood" pays tribute to Chicago and Detroit with its high paced house rhythm, acid synths, and piano lines.

Ahead of their 2018 tour, Melbourne natives 30/70 Collective have released their follow up remix EP entitled "Elevations", showcasing their magnificent musical artistry. The EP itself is a well-constructed buzzing compilation of reimagined songs by the gifted quintet known for their jazz infused funk sound. The record is released on no other than Bradley Zero's mighty Rhythm Section and it was only a matter of time until the label and blossoming man of the moment, Neue Grafik, joined forces once more. The MPC master, Neue Grafik, executes a crisp, garage- fused, break-beat sound, full of soul with a classic French house dance music flavour, with his remix of the bands 2017 track 'Slangin'.

Filling dance floors across continents, close friends Bradley Zero and Fred (Neue Grafik) have consistently devised and dispatched real electronic party music with a healthy serving of soul. Following his latest EP, "Innervision", Neue Grafik takes this opportunity to showcase his effortless ability to make a track his very own, introducing a silky sultry Parisian chic vibe to the song. Grafik captivates us within the first few seconds of this track, with the smooth, enchanting, gradual build up of lo-fi sound mixed with hazy mysterious chattering vocals - you can't help but lean in and listen, like a sexy stranger with a deep voice.

Slangin is an original blend of Hip-Hop, Broken Beat, Garage and French house, the atmosphere that comes with the track is pure nostalgia. The use of mesmerizing chords played off a Fender Rhodes and catchy two-step beat takes us back to the good old Garage days whilst pushing us into a totally new plain of music that really wraps itself around you. Always bringing something new to our ears, Neue Grafik is unmistakably one to watch as we look forward to his next contribution!
