Shur-I-Khan returns to Lazy Days Recordings with 'Beats, Stings & Life' a killer new EP , full of infections deep house and broken beat. "Shut This Down" is a vocal-led broken banger, dedicated to the memory of the late great Phil Asher.

Singer and songwriter Anna Stubbs may be familiar to broken beat fans from her work with Brotherly, who first surfaced on Bugz In The Attic own Bitasweet label. Shur-I-Kan is no newcomer to the bruk side either, having written and released songs with a West London swing, such as "Generations", many years ago.

Elsewhere on the EP, the title track is classic SIK, pumping deep house with gorgeous piano and string arrangement, complemented by clever reprise version which builds and builds. The dark and hypnotic "Bubblin' Up" rounds off this solid EP.

Today’s exclusive is very special. Timeless soul, folk and funk from the “Voice” Of South Africa in collaboration with Sweden’s finest jazz and soul collective. 

Strut revives a lost recording from the archives in January with a 2002 collaboration between acclaimed South African folk singer Vusi Mahlasela, singer songwriter Norman Zulu and Swedish jazz / soul collective Jive Connection.

The links between South Africa and Sweden have long been strong with Sweden one of the most supportive European nations in the struggle against apartheid; the government helped to fund the ANC for decades and Mandela visited the country on one of his first European stops following his release from prison in 1990.

Although touring regularly, the collaboration has rarely been documented beyond a lone studio album in 1994. This “lost” recording, discovered in the archives of producer Torsten Larsson, also features songwriter / vocalist Norman Zulu and showcases their natural musical chemistry together. Vusi’s songs have traditionally addressed the struggle for freedom and the need for reconciliation and, here, his lyrics are as powerful as ever, as you can hear on this an unflinching lament on child abuse. 

Producer Torsten Larsson Musik remembers the session well: "It was such a fantastic voyage to work with Vusi and all the Swedish musicians… Vusi and Norman Zulu teaching the Swedish guys to do all their backing vocals in all these different South African languages. I remember I was so impressed by Vusis voice & vocal arrangements, he just put them down live and direct. In the evenings we listened through Sly Stone and Bootsy live records, pretending we're at a live concert, drinking beers and just listening through whole live albums + applause.. great memories. Putting down all these grooves in a few days in Sweden, so much love & fun!"

Jank a.k.a Kousuke Koga is a musician, beatmaker, producer, and DJ as deephouse / beatdown music based in Japan. 
He played guitar in several rock bands in his youth and also listened and got influenced by black music and commercial songs.
he began spinning deep house first, then gradually expanded his likes to music comes from Detroit (especially influenced by “Moodymann” and “Theo parrish”), and started producing tracks around 2013.

In 2015 His first split EP with “KW”  “Another One EP1” was dropped thru Japanese label “Another One”. (owned by “Ken wood Omori”) 
March 2017, split EP with “Manmade music” “ Sandman EP” was dropped from “Boogie Cafe Records”. July 2018 His first EP “JANK EP” was dropped from “Mysterious Works”.  Meanwhile, he joined the EP “KOKLIFE EP vol 1” by JUKE crew “KOKLIFE” led by “DJ naaaaaoooo” from Japan, (sold only on Bandcamp), did collaboration work “Regret” with japanese hiphop beatmaker “GREEN ASSASSIN DOLLAR” on SoundCloud.
In addition, He played guitar in several albums of world famous Japanese trackmaker/producer “Shin-Ski/Alma de Stella”.
Currently he plans to collaborate with “various artists” and a new project with “Ken Wood Omori”.
