Recording a "covers special" has been on my to-do list for a few years now. Quite happy to finally get around to it after debating some very tough choices with myself. I think all serious music lovers have a love and hate relationship with cover versions. It just either really works or can be the absolute most cringe-worthy musical moments.

So here we go! This is a two-part special featuring my favorite versions. Part 2 will be out this week as well. One day I will probably need to revisit the concept since I left out many versions I adore.

You'd think i'd celebrate the 100th edition of the monthly-ish show I started many years ago by making a big fuss about it... and I must admit I did overthink it for a little while. Lord knows I love all kinds of musical challenges and ideas, they're what keep me going. 

But actually wouldn't celebrating the 100th edition be even better if I just focused on what the inspiration behind show #1 was: simply to play recent discoveries (both new and old) that I'm excited to share with an audience -- namely, YOU!

Oh but one piece of exciting news for show #100. I have started a new radio residency with the fine folks from Brussels' KIOSK RADIO! That just might be the thing I needed to get back on a consistent pace. 

100 shows in, I still love sharing these musical treasures with you.

Well well well. Look who's back!

After 11 years of monthly editions of my Music Is My Sanctuary show I decided I needed a creative break which ended up taking two years. It certainly wasn't for a lack of passion for music or for sharing it with all of you. I felt like I lost my sense of purpose with the show and I certainly didn't want to simply go through the motions if the passion wasn't there. Creative endeavours shouldn't be forced.

It feels great to start this show again and I'm excited about the future of it and most all of sharing music with you.

Lexis' M.I.M.S Show — 096: The Comeback Special (Part 2)

Hope this new edition of the show finds you in good spirits, feeling healthy and positive.

Music is one of the only instant mood enhancers without bad side effects. I’ve always believed that the right song at the right time can alter your mood, perspective and change your whole day around. All of the songs included here have that effect on me, so I hope they’ll do the same for you.

Speaking for myself, one of the challenges I face everyday with music is the overload of content and stimuli. I try to remind myself to listen with more intent and focus to records I love. All the songs included here are all musical obsessions I’ve listened to over and over. Different eras, moods, genres but all have something magical to them.
