Hi Everybody, MFT is back and I’m very happy to welcome special guest Chip Wickham, the great jazz saxophonist and flautist.

I discovered him with his amazing cover of Camaron de la Isla "La Leyenda Del Tiempo" on his first album solo called "La sombra" in 2017.

With his music, which is a mix of 60’s Hard Bop and Contemporary sounds, I instantly thought that Harold Alexander has a spiritual musical son. With a huge enthousiasme Chip prepared for MIMS a lovely mix of Deep New Jazz from the well known Greg Foat, Nubya Garcia and the french Florian Pellissier Quartet to some inspirations like Lonnie Liston Smith, Yusef Lateef and the killer english Jazz Dancer tune Harold McNair: ‘The Hipster’.

As usual I have selected the best from my last digging of future jazz classics included the brand new MDCL, SAULT and Byron The Aquarius. Check and enjoy the the lovely covers of Roy Ayers "We Live in Brooklyn baby" by Chien Chien Lu and the Spiritual jazz dancer The sons of Daughters of life "Let The Sun Shine In" by  Jimetta Rose & Voices of Creation. the West london scene is still on fire, particularly the Broken Beat with 2 brand new bid tracks by the very productive Kaidi Tatham. Hi Everybody, we're almost at the last edition "My Favorite Things" show of this very strange year. 

Show #29 has a very particular flavor cause I’m very happy to receive my favorite Parisian DJ : Emanuela De Luca. To welcome this very special guest, I started the show with a very special track from 1957 by a legendary french singer on a lovely jazz melody. As usual I have selected some of my last favorite diggings like the great cover of the huge spiritual jazz theme  "The Creator Has a Master Plan" by Dezron Douglas & Brandee Younger, a track from the last fusion album from Byron the Aquarius, the brand new Jimi Tenor and Kokoroko and the fabulous Sun Palace’s Edit from Moodymann on BBE. To complete my personal part, here are two lovely soul nuggets : Arthur "So close to you" with its folk attitude and the 1st reissue of the Brand New Kev Beadle Label by Dianne Mower "The Secret Sign".

The Emanuela’s mix starts with some Soul Jazz Gliding including a very actual track called « I'll sing from my window » from O'Donel Levy … if you follow what I mean !!! Her mix carries on with some great deep and mellow tunes by Eiji Nakayama, Noe's Jazz Ensemble, Tom Scott & the L.A. Express, Catalyst  and the italian Sestetto Dino Piana & Oscar Valdambrini. Gradually the selection goes into some wicked fusion Jazz Dancefloor including Ryo Kawasaki (RIP), Boy Katindig and the anthem "Sombre Guitar" by Danser's Inferno.

Ce membre de Cotonete, aldorande, Sententa, Camarao Orkestra et bien sur du Florian Pellissier Quintet, nous propose ici un mix regroupant ses dernières productions telles que « Le Deal Mexican » , « Blast Candy » (qui n’est d’autre que se Femme, et pour « Leron Thomas », mais aussi des coups de coeur et influences comme Azymuth, Chake Khan, Antonio Adolfo ou encore Talib Kweli.

1st episode of My Favorite Things in 2021 and our special guest is none other than Lexis. 

I first met the founder of our favorite website back in 2013 when I booked him in Paris for his very first "Club Jazz" gig for an incredible edition of the Jazz Attitudes night. From that meeting was born our collaboration on MIMS as well as gigs where we share the same love and curiosity for music. 

True to his trademark, Lexis put together a mix sharing many different tastes and influences, this time diving into 90's jazz-nujazz-triphop treasures like The Sonic Family, Peshay and Up, Bustle & Out. The middle sees a couple jazzy older gems like South Africa's Teaspoon Ndelu and the calypso Jazz of Rupert Clemendore. He closes out his mix with a few of his favorite Broken Beat x Jazz revisions like Art Blakey revisited by EVM 128 and Carlos Garett revised by Kyoto Jazz Massive and Moonstarr. That and a few more joints!

As usual, the show is opened with a few of my recent digs including the ambient jazz of Mammal Hands and Sven Wunder. Also, what absolute joy it is to see Gary Bartz so inspired these days as part of the "Jazz is dead" project.  My set closes out with a few dancefloor tunes as usual: "Milestones" by Stéphane San Juan & Sambacool and "I Believe in Miracles" by Banda Achilifunk & Original Jazz Orquestra Taller De Músics.
