Hi everybody, the MFT show is back with the legend that all the English DJ's simply call "the Daddy". Paul Murphy. 

He is most certainly the first English Jazz Dance DJ and was above all the resident of the famous "Jazz Room" Parties at the Electric Ballroom in London. Still a DJ and now the label Manager of the fantastic Jazz Room Records, Paul Murphy continues to share his culture and collection by reissuing the marvels of Jazz. For MIMS and MFT he agreed to do a 1 hour mix as a guest filled with forgotten treasures and timeless classics.

For the 1st hour of this episode, I mostly focused on a selection of future jazz classics starting with spiritual and ambient jazz like Sven Wunder, Mia Doi Todd feat. Jeff Parker and Sarah Hanahan.

I wanted to highlight new Jazz funk like the cover of "Date with the Rain" by East Coast Love Affair, Zopelar and excluded the new release of the French label Chuwanaga "Latitude". As I often do, I concluded this hour of mixing with the Broken Beat releases of "Lord & Dego" and the remix of Sean Khan by the relentless Kaidi Tatham.

This week’s mix comes from Jake Miller, 1/5 of the new Reggae crew ‘Youth Downbeat Sound’. Jake has spent the last few years working in the legendary London record shop Flashback Records and is a serious collector of all things Reggae. He has a monthly show on Kindred Radio exploring all different kinds of vinyl crackle and will be launching a new hand built sound system with his crew in May. Pullin from the Stacks - Episode 195

Here at Studio Funk we are super stoked to have the wonderful Andre Gibson on this months show. The multi talented musician, singer and songwriter of Universal Togetherness Band. As you can expect we have a lot to discuss including the history surrounding the band, how it got started, early memories and performing on the notorious TV show, The Chicago Party at the CopHerBox II (1982). We also talk about Andre’s desire to continue to making music and his recent album ‘Movin On’. Plus the collaboration with The Numero Group to publish the unreleased material of Universal Togetherness Band many years later.
