Andrei Bucureci – Lil Obeah is a curator, musicologist, art director and entrepreneur with over 10 years of experience in radio, music and art. His portfolio includes various projects such as Tunesinourheads, Abator Industries, Crowd Control, Creionetica, Black Rhino Music, Black Rhino Radio and A4Activism. Bucharest has been a collaborator of Radio Guerrilla, Electronic Beats by Telekom, Metropotam and is a graduate of architecture, art and design. Andrei recently launched his solo debut album Lil Obeah From Transylvania, this time under his latest moniker Lil Obeah.

The Sound of Art to Come Records is his and his partners Cristiana Bucureci project, a Transylvanian platform, publishing house and record label, where dub, electronic and experimental artists from all over the world come together. From the depths of Romania, Andrei and Cristiana offer monthly a unique selection of works of art, collages, music and remixes inspired by the intersection between Pop Art, multiculturalism and horror movie soundtracks.

Bucureci Lil Obeah also host a monthly show on Black Rhino Radio called Everyday Is Halloween with sessions dedicated to Jamaican music and dub, reggae and bass music sounds all over the world inspired by Horror films, concepts, art and a certain dark spooky haunting aesthetic. It may sound strange but Everyday Is Halloween focuses on the special sound that bridges the gap between pop art culture, comic books and Caribbean culture.

These mixes aim to be similar to a pirate Eastern EU radio show from another dimension, ranging from weird experimental authentic local dub to traditional reggae-dub with ska and rock influences. The music featured on the show is from across the decades since the 1950’s to present Halloween days.

This Everyday Is Halloween Asymetrics Mixtape features exclusive remixes and never-heard-before original songs from the Sound of Art to Come renegade Transylvanian label and inspirational tunes.

For the first show of 2022, I invited the most talented, tasteful and elegant DJ from Barcelona : Virginie. For MIMS she recorded a fantastic mix, a special Broken beat session with killer tracks from 1998 to 2021.

This is the final instalment of the decade mixes. But this time it's a little bit different.

This is the decade that turned us into what we are now. This mix is effectively our condensed dance music bible (believe it or not, there are lots of tunes we couldn't fit in). The mix is done in the same style in which we remember our clubbing experiences. Most notably, The Bang Gang parties every Friday night in Sydney. Those guys were a HUGE part of why we became DJ's in the first place. This mix will, for better or worse, dig up a few dance-floor 'moments' for anyone who took part in the madness. 

So many of these songs are classics to us, and probably are to many others too. It's hard to hear these songs without cracking a smile and remembering a great time of irresponsibility. 

You won't find too many mixtapes in this style anymore. And certainly not from us. But we had to show what this decade was all about to us, and how it brought us to what we do today.  

We're dedicating this mix to our belated friend and mentor, Ajax. He's had more influence on this final chapter than anyone will ever know.

Thanks to everyone who got behind these mixes. It's been a long ride.
