Opening the month of August, Tash's Movement Recordings welcomes Hobin Rude to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Serbia, Hobin Rude first emerged in 2020 with a remix for Jelly For The Babies One Of A Kind imprint. His progressive sounds quickly found favour with the genre's premiere tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, eventually leading to releases via Beat Boutique, Dopamine White, Hoomidaas and Sound Avenue. Also an established DJ, the Belgrade resident has the distinction of performing with elite international talentsGuy J, Roy Rosenfeld, Tim Green, Guy J, Roy Rosenfeld, Tim Green, Volen Sentir and more. Now on the strength of forthcoming projects via The Soundgarden and Plattenbank, Hobin adds Movement Recordings to his resume with 'It Was and It Will', alongside remixes from DJ Ruby and Kyotto.

Drawing on a variety of smooth rhythmic concepts, the EP begins with the title selection. On a backbone of warm beats comes mounds of perfectly contoured bass and a lively percussive cadence. Fluid and buoyant in equal measure, an evolving atmospheric haze encases the framework, as mysterious vocal fragments and effervescent effects unite in a perfect sonic marriage. The narrative continues to evolve across the main break, with buzzing sonics and sheets of white noise gently rising alongside percolating motifs, as the beats drop for a spirited finale. The companion piece 'Umbra' proves to be a worthy complement with its deep, driving energy. Muscular beats power the undulating groove, while percolating effects and timely vocal choirs add depth, space and emotion. Continuing to evolve as the main break commences, clustered arps flow through tasteful modulation amidst a haze of swirling atmospherics and colourful effects, eventually melting down into a thunderous drop and soaring finale.

Providing the first interpretation of 'It Was and It Will' is DJ Ruby who makes his label debut. As Malta's premiere progressive house DJ, Ruby has an ever-growing fanbase that stretches far beyond the island's party scene. Beloved for his impeccable taste and exquisite programming skills, Ruby is also an accomplished producer with releases via Droid9, Freegrant Music, Mango Alley and SLC-6 Music. Now, on the strength of a remix for Kamilo Sanclemente and Transensations, Ruby makes his Movement Recordings debut with a powerful rendition of 'It Was and It Will'. Taking a cue from the original while adding a deeper state of mind, the Maltese artist carves out a warm, chunky groove adorned with flickering percussive arrangements and arcane vocal gates. Astral effects continue to advance the journey, creating a colourful canopy along the way, while a cavernous break resets the framework for a dark, hip swinging finale

The release concludes with Kyotto making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Umbra'. First emerging in 2017, the Sri Lankan artist was quickly tipped as one of his country's most promising progressuve house artists. Releases via 3rd Avenue, Dopamine White, JEE Productions have been recent discography highlights while Hernan Cattaneo continues to be steadfast with support. As an in-demand remixer, the Colombo resident now steps up to Movement Recordings for his debut, taking 'Umbra' into his world of groovy basslines and emotive melodies. Kyotto sustains an understated yet confident club energy, reshaping the groove into a rippling funk-fuelled delight, while rolling percussion and riveting stabs push momentum into an expansive break. Looking to bring further emotion to the narrative, the centrepiece keeps the rhythm locked as percussion continues to fire through a forest of hazy

harmonics, planting gentle splashes of serotonin along the way, before ultimately breaking off into a groove-centric finale. A sensational remix from Kyotto, rounding out what are three very impressive Movement Recordings debuts for himself, Hobin Rude and DJ Ruby.

Juicebox Music's 62nd release sees Mike Rish's 3-track EP "The Quest", originally released in late 2021, getting a fresh breath of life with a set of remixes. The Melbourne (Australia) based artist made his debut on our imprint with his deep, yet powerful remix of Simos Tagias' "Black Swan and swiftly followed it up with a magnificient release which earned high praises & support. Mike Rish furthered his sonic mark with releases on GMJ & Matter's 'meanwhile' as well as James Beetham's 'Last Night Music'. To celebrate "The Quest" EP, we called upon Kabi, EMPHI, Haen & MONé to rework all three tracks from the EP - "The Quest", "Enter" & "Tuumla".

First up is Buenos Aires (Argentina) based artist - Lucas Khabie aka Kabi, who makes his return to the imprint after his chart-topping "Lost In Roses" EP with K Loveski. His dreamy and club-effective style caught the attention of the progressive community, namely through his body of work on Nick Warren's 'The Soundgarden', Guy Mantzur's 'Plattenbank' & Mango's 'Mango Alley', to name a few. Releasing quality over quantity, his attention to detail is evident. For his latest offering, Kabi injects his signature style into Mike Rish's "The Quest", turning it into a deep yet driving interpretation whilst retaining the magical melodic moments.

A new label to enter the underground house milieu, Pillbox has a set of 24-carat gold credentials from which to cast its net over the global club scene. Owned and curated by Proton progenitor, Sam Packer, the label's first release sees a track from German and Lebanese talents. Remixes come from Australia and Germany.

An artist with a rich electronic music history, Chris Zippel has been immersed in the world of house since the age of 15. Splitting his time between Berlin and Ibiza, the German artist has taken centre stage with work alongside the Pet Shop Boys, Robbie Williams and Paul Van Dyk. With music signed to Ubersee Music, Allisum Records and GMJ & Matter's Meanwhile Horizons, Zippel continues to grow in stature. A rising star, renowned for her status as a leading Qanun player, Ghenwa Nemnom has combined her love of the traditional Middle Eastern instrument with an ability to use its unique sound in the world of dance music and the organic house sound found on such leading imprints as Café De Anatolia, Alt Orient and Melody of the Soul. Now joining forces for the first time, "To Follow" is an extraordinary track that drifts enticingly with gently rolling beat and deep 16th note sub bassline. In tandem, the beautifully plucked sound of Nemnom's Quanun reveals itself in a virtuoso performance. A whispering vocal phrase emerges at the mid-point before ambient effects and subtly placed arpeggio combine in the second half to spine-tingling and immaculately crafted effect.

Gavin Griffin needs no introduction to those familiar with the progressive house sound of the past 5 years. A leading light in the underground fraternity with his performance behind the decks and near 500 production credits for the like of Anjunadeep, Balance Music and Proton Music, the Australian artist continues to push boundaries, defining the modern progressive sound. Reworking "To Follow", the GMJ remix is dripping in trademark silky smooth melodies and rolling rhythmic underpinning. Building imperceptibly, a vocal sample from Zippel and Nemnom's original creates a melodic peg from which to hang a glorious analogue synth motif. The cadenced phrase shimmers across the stereo spectrum as layer of pads and counterpoint motifs create an uplifting sonic experience. Using the fundamental harmonic themes from "To Follow", the track builds post-breakdown into a glorious sonic collage that showcases GMJ's technique and talent to the full.

Dropping his first ever release on Manual Music's long running MNL imprint, he instantly enters the scene with a bang, dropping two high quality progressive house groovers with 'Speculating As Unknown' and 'Dreams'.

'An artist with a steadily evolving body of work and ever-growing fanbase, Sebastian Sellares continues to chart a path to the upper echelons of the underground dance scene. Now making his Proportion debut, he delivers the twin-track “Renaissance” EP.

From his home in the foothills of the Sierras Chicas, Sebastian Sellares has witnessed an unstoppable rise to prominence. An accomplished guitarist from an early age with a particular focus on rock and metal, Sebastian was ultimately drawn to electronic music with a penchant for luscious melodies and deep rhythmic grooves. A regular across the clubs of his Córdoba home, a production career in tandem quickly shone a light on a complementary set of skills.

A plethora of high-class releases quickly followed with a century of tracks finding their way onto such esteemed imprints as Anjunadeep, Proton Music, GMJ & Matter’s Meanwhile and Cid Inc.’s Replug, the latter in collaboration with fellow countryman, Ezequiel Arias. Thus, through a growing portfolio of original and remix production work, Sebastian has become a sought after and in-demand artist.

Now making a first appearance on Proportion, Sebastian Sellares delivers a twin-track EP of the highest calibre. Redolent in rich melodic tapestry and dynamic rhythms that have become a staple of his work, “Renaissance” is a glorious offering that lilts effortlessly via rolling groove and ticking hi-hats. A rumbling bassline sequence creates syncopated synergy as expertly placed and stereo-panned effects add to the dense atmosphere. Elegant melodies emerge into the second movement and breakdown as they tumble and cascade over each other in beautiful aural patterns. Hitting its stride once more in the second half, emotive string phrases and delicately pulsating synths add even greater depth in a track that finds the Argentinean at the height of his production powers.

Partner track, “The Blitz” immediately excites with its subtle bouncing bassline energy and ticking percussive groove. Immaculately placed synth phrasing provides dancefloor dynamism as a sweeping analogue synth line imprints itself on the listener’s consciousness. Rising and falling with club-friendly ease, a cadenced synth line builds in energy, mirroring the bassline beneath before twinkling keys provide a moment of exquisite beauty. As the track drops back into its stride once more in the latter stages, bass prowess and melodic majesty combine in mesmerising fashion.

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White finds the label showcasing new interpretations of Gabo Martin and Jesuan M's 'Mirage' EP. Released in January of last year it found the Argentinean duo crafting two supreme slices of progressive house, with the title track still sitting in the duo's Top five Beatport best sellers. Subsequent solo releases across the next eighteen months via Dreamers, Droid9, Juicebox Music and Or Two Strangers have continued the pair's respective rise. Now, looking to breathe new life into the tracks, Dopamine White invites Da Luka and Jorgio Kioris and Chriss V and Olart to provide their own interpretations for the final quarter of 2022. 

The release begins with Da Luka and Jorgio Kioris providing the lone interpretation of 'Mirage'. Hailing from Albania and Greece respectively, Da Luka and Jorgio have been occasional studio partners in recent years, recording singles and remixes for Droid9, Juicebox Music, Movement Recordings and Strange Town. Beloved within the progressive music spectrum, the genre's key tastemakers have been steadfast supporters along the way, with Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Kölsch, Guy J, D-Nox, Eelke Kleijn, Danny Tenaglia, Cid Inc and more all praising the duo's sound. Now, adding Dopamine White to their resume, Da Luka and Jorgio debut on the label with a stellar rendition of 'Mirage'. Taking inspiration from the original, the duo flex their free-thinking muscles and craft a version that lands comfortably between groovy and hypnotic. Neatly manicured percussion and smooth, hip-swinging basslines set the course for layers of melodic colour, which ultimately provides a bridge into the main break. Coming to full fruition across the centrepiece, tension rises through dancing arps, emotive chord changes and drum driven drama, while never letting go of its tranquil vibration and smoothly pushing onwards to an uplifting finale.

The release concludes with Chriss V and Olart making their label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Sands of Time'. Hailing from Albania, Chriss V has been a fixture of the electronic underground for the better part of two decades. Highly regarded as a DJ, Chriss has shared the stage with a variety of top international talents with Solomun, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Henry Saiz, Eric Prydz and Armen Miran being the most notable. As a producer, Chriss has been selective with his projects over the last decade, with Dbeatzion Records, Elliptical Sun Recordings and Inception being the primary landing spots for his progressive sound. Coming off a near two-year hiatus, Chriss now joins forces with newcomer Olart as the duo make their Dopamine White debut with a powerful take on 'Sands of Time'. Full and fluid like the original, Chriss and Olart move in a deeper direction with low slung grooves, rolling percussion and retro-arps setting the pace. Glowing overlays blanket the framework leading into the break, bringing a warm, effervescent glow across the centrepiece, before dropping out into waves of bubbly arps and a groove-centric finale. A nostalgic rendition from Chriss and Olart, which caps off an excellent remix edition for Gabo Martin and Jesuan M's 'Mirage' EP. Highly recommended.
