Brendon Moeller has long been a purveyor of authentic dub-infused Techno since stepping onto the scene via his 2006 ‘Sweetspot / Humpback’ EP via Echocord and has since gone on to release on reputable imprints such as Third Ear, Kimochi Sound, Delsin’s Ann Aimee, Mule Musiq and of course his very own Steadfast. Here though Moeller makes a welcome return to where it all began with some fresh material for Echocord’s Colour sub-label.
‘Caravan’ takes the lead on the release and in typical Brendon Moeller fashion we’re treated to densely layered dub chords, throbbing subs and expansive atmospherics whilst robust drums drive the composition along. ‘Magic City’ follows and ups the energy levels even further with pounding industrial drums layered underneath billowing dub stabs and eerie drones.
‘Magic City In Dub’ follows and as the name suggests offers up a reduced take on the composition, dropping the tempo and shining light on the billowing echoes of the original whilst stirring in some off-kilter rhythsm and additional processing for good measure. Lastly, ‘Departure’ closes the package, with haunting synth drones, bumpy rhythms and murky vocals wandering throughout the seven-minute composition.

Something Happening Somewhere returns with a new collection of stories unified under the brand new NOWHERE compilation series. Shards of tales long forgotten are told and retold by a group of fellow travellers, exploring sounds in many shapes and forms. Sailing towards an unknown destination, revealed here are the hymns luring you into the abyss… 

NOWHERE 01 is set to be released as a twelve track tour de force containing a myriad of fresh sounds build from uncharted odysseys along a host of forgotten pearls. Quince, Tracey, Sigward, Patlac, Love Over Entropy & Pete Blaker, Kiani & His Legion and Fader From Borneo all provide freshly crafted propellants. Also taking the opportunity to reimagine music by Kurt Baggaley, Fatima Yamaha, Mayaku / Dilated Pupils, Lover Over Entropy / Versalife and Quince. Distilled from this full blown three-mast comes a vinyl sampler containing five carefully selected tracks. Something is happening somewhere, but where…? 

The NOWHERE voyage is designed by our favourite designer Quentin Deronzier and for the Vinyl Sampler we’re creating a unique silkscreen printed remix of his visual articulation. The face of a mortal being exposed from every angle it discloses every achingly beautiful, enchanting and haunting detail there is to discover. There are things hiding in the murky depths of the seawater, discoveries not to be looked into the eye and sounds never to be resonated by an eardrum. Perhaps nowhere is actually a place worth visiting.

For the first single from a 6-track EP from Montreal's Clarian (who is also one half of Footprintz), the Canadian reached well beyond the border to collaborate with Tel Aviv-born, Madrid-based producer Guy Gerber on "Claire." Gerber has been a major player on Israel's electronic scene since 2006, running his own Supplemental Facts label and infusing traces of minimal techno, tech house, downtempo and deep house in his productions, while remaining singular in his approach. Clarian's vocal contributions were at the heart of Gerber's progressive house-leaning Fabric mix from last year, which joined the likes of Ricardo Villalobos and Omar-S of artists that turned in single-artist mixes to the series. "Claire" starts amid a queasy vocal snippet (with Clarian's French whisper lodged in at the midpoint) and threatens to go darker and deeper. But a steady handclap and glimmering melodic line uplifts and casts light across this seven-minute track.

'DE9 Fragments' is a series of fragmented audio edits based upon my live DJ set recordings. Each one will attempt to capture the feeling and direction of the night, giving those who were there a reminder of the events they experienced while giving those who were not present a fragmented distortion of what they missed.

Started as a FAT sister label, with an eccentric bent and experimentally “too intellectual” with its heads out the window. Above all, a raw cut and clever yet boozy funk understanding from Metaboman the platform was, always MK, but a shared stylistic closeness through Robag Wruhme. In the present as an emancipated partner alongside FAT on the same level. Here comes about the stuff which is a bit club dweller-ish outsider (!): functional, experiment, melodic lone purloiner, slicked up snarky paired with a jazzy panorama and frivolic understanding of song hand in hand. As special tid-bits come to light next to Metaboman along with Krause Duo and Robag Wruhme and other sonic artists like Ian Simmonds, Schleck und Stecker, Portable, Someone Else on Musikkrause the shine of the speaker boxes.
   
With a wide awake view to the future, the right mélange of tradition, down-to-earth instincts and the adventurist appetite bend the parameters in the direction of…wrong-headed sympathetic humanity in a paradise of electronic music brought to tears, scrumptious, freak-out and fleshly depth. There is also the exception without the cemented delusions of grandeur…how does the German sitcom main character Stromberg put it: “If you allow the butter to be taken from the bread, then eventually you won’t even have the bread!”
